Nu Upsilon Zeta Chapter Brenda Mount, President APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Nu Upsilon Zeta Chapter is accepting applications for the annual Thelma Louise Stokes Craig College Scholarship Fund. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a sorority founded by five women that believed in education. Soror Thelma Louise Stokes Craig was the first President of the Temple Terrace chapter of Nu Upsilon Zeta of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Nu Upsilon Zeta Chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated began in 1987, with Soror Thelma Louise Stokes Craig at the helm. Her tireless dedication and work within the community and public schools of Hillsborough County was captured and appreciated through the establishment of this scholarship fund. Nu Upsilon Zeta continues to honor her legacy and commitment to scholarship and achievement through offering the Thelma Louise Stokes Craig College Scholarship Fund to African American high school seniors in the Tampa Bay area. Our scholarship is open to any African American female high school senior residing in Hillsborough County, rating in the upper half of her graduating class. The applicant must be planning to enter a post- secondary institution (4-year college / University) at the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year. A scholarship selection committee, composed of members of Nu Upsilon Zeta Chapter, will choose the finalists. From the group of finalists, a panel interview will be conducted. The committee will consider the student's high school academic record, letters of recommendation, community activities, extracurricular activities and personal statement as well as a performance during a panel interview. From the group interviewed the Scholarship recipients will be chosen. The completed scholarship application package must include the following items: 1. Completed application 2. Picture of applicant 3. Certified transcript (mailed separately) 4. Two letters of recommendation, including one from your school’s guidance counselor, and the second from a school, church, employer, or other reference (not a family member) 5. Typed essay, 300-500 words (topics are listed on page 2 of the application) No application will be considered unless ALL of the documents are enclosed and emailed by the due date.
