Restaurant Wine 4+ stars Felton Road - 2009 Riesling, Central Otago "Very Germanic in style (and excellent): light-medium bodied, fragrant, crisp, and very long on the finish, tasting of peach, honeysuckle, lemon peel, and kiwi fruit. Extremely well balanced." - Ronn Wiegand June 2010

Weekend Australian James Halliday MW 95 points Felton Road - 2009 Riesling, Central Otago This wine sits between the slightly sweeter Block 1 (96 points) and the Dry Riesling (94 points). Bright straw green, it has a highly floral bouquet, then a juicy sweet cloudburst of lime on the palate: the 53g per litre of residual balanced to perfection by the high natural acidity; the length of the wine is exceptional.

Gourmet Traveler Wine Felton Road - 2009 Riesling, Central Otago Technically this is probably a medium sweet style, although the wine appears drier than the 53grams per litre residual sugar might suggest, thanks to fine and assertive acidity. I like the tension between acidity and that elevates it above the Felton Road Dry Riesling. Between them, both wines span a range of food partnerships. Made from organically grown grapes, which are hand picked and whole bunch pressed before fermentation by wild yeasts and extended lees contact.

Wine Spectator 89 points Felton Road - 2009 Riesling, Central Otago "Sweet and silky. This is not a weighty wine, but has force behind the pear, lime and green apple flavors, finishing sweet but balanced." - Harvey Steiman Web Only - 2010

Wine Enthusiast 90 points, Editors’ Choice Felton Road - 2009 Riesling, Central Otago "Felton Road’s Riesling perfectly balances and acids in a sweet, delicate style centered on limes, green apples and crushed stones. The finish is crisp and racy, leaving behind a lingering sensation of sweetness." - Joe Czerwinski June 1, 2010

Wine Enthusiast 89 points Felton Road - 2008 Riesling, Central Otago "Fairly sweet without being either cloying or excessively tart, Felton Road’s 2008 Riesling starts with delicate floral aromas that just hint at lime, apple and petrol. The flavors trend along the same limes, but pick up some peachy ripeness as well before finishing clean and fresh." - Joe Czerwinski November 2009

The Wine Advocate 89 points Felton Road - 2008 Riesling, Central Otago "The 2008 Riesling is quite reserved on the nose with touches of crushed stone, a touch of morning dew. Reserved at the moment. It has very good fruit intensity on the palate, very good acidity, touches of peach and honeysuckle with a tight, well-defined finish. Another pretty Central Otago Riesling." - Neal Martin Sep 2009

Wine & Spirits 93 points Felton Road - 2008 Riesling, Central Otago "Some wines capture autumn; this one captures spring with its lemon blossom scents and bright white cherry fruit, finishing as clean as rainwater. It’s succulent and sweet enough in the middle to match a range of Asian foods, particularly, Thai drunken noodles." February 2009

Decanter Felton Road - 2007 Riesling, Central Otago "Mouthwatering grapefruit, passionfruit and lime. Succulent and racy with just enough richness to counter the high acidity." - Steven Spurrier August 1, 2008

Wine Enthusiast 90 points Felton Road - 2007 Riesling, Central Otago "Light in body, yet sinewy in texture and a bit sweet. This Riesling has turned out well. Floral, green apple and lime aromas and flavors are almost Mosel-like, but the wine is richer and weightier that that..." - Joe Czerwinski May 1, 2008

The Wine Advocate 89 points Felton Road - 2007 Riesling, Central Otago "The 2007 Riesling does not have the aromatic “tension” of the Dry cuvee, a little viscous on the palate with a touch of sugar on the Spatlese-esque finish." - Neal Martin

April 30, 2008 Decanter Spurrier's World - Best Sweet Wine Felton Road - 2006 Riesling, Central Otago “Famed for its striking Central Otago Pinot Noirs, Felton Road has produced a stunning Riesling: silver pale, charming softness and sweetness (50g/L residual sugar) but with zippiness and lift. Generously fruity with a broadness of flavour and crisp acidity that give it a great future.” April 2008

San Francisco Chronicle Felton Road - 2006 Riesling, Central Otago "Germanic rather than Alsatian in style, with stone fruit aromas – peach, nectarine, apricot – a whiff of spice and a softening sweetness. Low alcohol and correspondingly light-bodied, its acidity balances well with the residual sugar to keep the finish clean. Several years of aging should integrate the sweetness and acidity further and bring out more minerality and breadth." November 2, 2007

Wine Enthusiast 91 points Felton Road - 2006 Riesling, Central Otago “Broad and sweet, but the sugars are amply balanced by this wine’s dusty minerality and dried-spice character. , spice and apple shadings on the nose glide easily into flavors of baked apple on the palate, while the finish possesses a tactile minerality that precisely brings all of the components into harmony. Drink now-2016.” September 2007
