EMBARGOED UNTIL SUNDAY, JANUARY 4 (ONLINE & PRINT) Spoleto Festival USA Announces 2015 Season The 39th Season of America’s Premier Performing Arts Festival is Scheduled for May 22 – June 7 in Charleston, South Carolina Highlights of the 2015 Festival: World premiere of contemporary opera Paradise Interrupted designed and directed by artist Jennifer Wen Ma, composed by Huang Ruo, conducted by John Kennedy, and featuring Chinese singer Qian Yi American premiere and first performances in over 350 years of Francesco Cavalli’s baroque opera Veremonda, l’amazzone di Aragona directed by Stefano Vizioli and designed by Italian artist Ugo Nespolo; world premiere of Festival-commissioned performance edition by early music specialist and conductor Aaron Carpenè Shakespeare’s Globe to make its Spoleto Festival USA debut with first US performances of a new production of Romeo and Juliet directed by Dominic Dromgoole and Tim Hoare in the Dock Street Theatre Dance series features Scottish Ballet’s acclaimed adaptation of Tennessee Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire, and performances by Trisha Brown Dance Company and Shen Wei Dance Arts Bank of America Chamber Music series led by Geoff Nuttall to feature a world premiere by 2015 composer-in-residence Mark Applebaum New American Express Woolfe Street Series to include the world premiere of What Moves You by dancer Lil Buck and cellist Ashley Bathgate, and concerts by Taylor Mac and The Living Earth Show at the cabaret-style Woolfe Street Playhouse Westminster Choir led by Joe Miller to perform David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Little Match Girl Passion with new choreography by Pontus Lidberg, and J.S.
