Press Book Biography Press Book Biography High-School Motherfuckers played their very first gig as a tribute to the RAMONES along with Jean Beauvoir (Kiss, Ramones, Plasmatics, Little Steven...) himself. Encouraged by that gig and the few shows that followed that were all a success, the band went on recording the 5-track E.P. «Want some ?!». The C.D. was well received by the public and got good reviews and fanzines worldwide started circulating the band’s name HSMF - as fans dubbed them - then took one more step. They were featured on various compilations and they brought their compelling punk rock all over Europe, in countries ranging from Switzerland to Hungary through the Netherlands and Denmark, playing along with such bands as the New York Dolls, Backyard Babies, Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns n’ Roses), Nashville Pussy, The Quireboys, L.A. Guns, Thunder Express, Kip Winger, Lizzy Borden, Vains of Jenna, Punish Yourself, Black Rain, American Dog, Adam Bomb, Black Halos, Dirty Penny, Psychopunch, Adam West, Turbo AC’s, +44 (ex-Blink 182). More determined and motivated than ever, the four punkrockers, raised on the Ramones, Motörhead and other Sex Pistols then embarked on recording their first full-length album «Backseat Education», 11 tracks made out of the raw energy and sheer intensity of the band’s live performances. It was then time to hit the roads of Europe again, not forgetting to work on new material at the same time. Back into the studio and, proudly announced by the «Jesus ep» single, the HSMF’s new album of 11 brand new songs. «Say you just don’t care» offers tracks that are finely carved, yet retaining as always and once again, the explosive and joyful frenzy, now a hallmark of the band’s music ; high-powered rythms mingle with heavy riffs and catchy melodies, in the manner of fellow scandinavian bands like The Hellacopters, Backyard Babies, The Bones or even Hardcore Superstar. In 2017 with old partner in crime Blondie they decided to make a split CD with his band: The JOYSTIX! 10 brand new tracks, 5 rn’r treasure of punk/rock/hard/glam (call it what you want) per band! With that new opus «Skull’s Out!» in hand, the four punkrockers are back on the road and they can hardly wait to meet you there to share with you those genuine rock n’roll moments that are their live performances. Officially the Rock/Heavy Metal monsters LORDI were founded in 1992 by lead singer, songwriter, visual art designer and costume designer Mr. Lordi. The band has deep Finnish roots, originating from the city of Rovaniemi, in Lapland. In 2006 they celebrated their international breakthrough by winning the Eurovision Song Contest (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) They are Finland’s only winners to date and they earned more points than any other artists in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest up to that time. But is it possible that this is only a pale misperception of our poor, small, pathetic reality? Is there, however unlikely it may seem, another truer reality? What if LORDI would have already been making music since the early 70's? And what if they have been releasing one hit single after the other since those times and now, almost 50 years later, are looking back on a full collection of songs that have been successful ever since? This is exactly the idea that LORDI are celebrating, or maybe a more appropriate word is executing, with their newest studio album “Killection.” Killection will be released on January 31st via AFM Records/Soulfood Music. Once more Mr Lordi, the master of the masquerade, presents us with one of his ideas, absurd and genius at the same time, and comes up with a concept that has never been done before in the music industry: "Killection" is a compilation album that simply says “what if” LORDI had been in existence since the early 70's.

    2015-08-28 11:27 CEST Backyard Babies släpper efterlängtade albumet ”Four By Four” ”Vad säger ni om vi berättar att pausen är över? Tack för ert tålamod!” Så löd tweeten som under 2014 tillkännagav att Backyard Babies var på väg tillbaka efter flera års långt uppehåll. Idag, ett och halvt år senare, släpps bandets nya studioalbum ”Four By Four”. Backyard Babies bildades i Nässjö 1989 och drogs igång medan medlemmarna Peder Carlsson, Johan Blomquist, Dregen och Nicke fortfarande gick i plugget. Första EP:n ”Something To Swallow” från 1991 uppmärksammandes stort och gav bandet ett välförtjänt skivkontrakt. Debutalbumet ”Diesel & Power” släpptes 1994 och Backyard Babies syntes och hördes i allt fler sammanhang. Det stora genombrottet kom fyra år senare med den numera klassiska guldsäljande plattan ”Total 13” som gav bandet en Grammis för bästa hårdrocksalbum. En världsomfattande succé var ett faktum - en succé som bara kom att fortsätta. 2010, efter 20 år som band, beslutade Backyard Babies sig för att ta en paus på obestämd tid. Detta efter att ha turnerat nonstop sedan 1989 och under tiden hunnit bli stilbildande för en hel generation nya rockband. Nu är Backyard Babies återigen aktuella med ny musik och nya albumet ”Four By Four” släpps idag, fredagen den 28 augusti. Bandet har under våren varit instängda i studion och spelat in nytt material tillsammans med producenten Jacob Hellner som också producerat albumet ”Backyard Babies” från 2008. Första smakprovet från albumet ”Four By Four” blev singeln ”Th1rt3en Or Nothing” som släpptes den 27 maj. Knappt en vecka senare klev Sveriges största sleazerockband upp på festivalscenen på Sweden Rock och gjorde sin första spelning tillsammans på fem år och fansen jublade länge.

Diné, Apache, Hopi, Pueblo, Gila, Yaqui, and O’odham bands are currently creating vast punk and metal music scenes. In this thesis, I argue that Native punk is not just a cultural movement, but a form of survivance. Bands utilize punk and their stories as a conduit to counteract issues of victimhood as well as challenge imposed mechanisms of settler colonialism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, notions of being fixed in the past, as well as bringing awareness to genocide and missing and murdered Indigenous women. Through D.I.Y. and space making, bands are writing music which ii resonates with them, and are utilizing their own venues, promotions, zines, unique fashion, and lyrics to tell their stories.
