® THE AMERICAN BOARD OF PEDIATRICS CONTENT OUTLINE Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Subspecialty In-Training, Certification, and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Examinations INTRODUCTION This document was prepared by the American Board of Pediatrics Subboard of Developmental- Behavioral Pediatrics for the purpose of developing in-training, certification, and maintenance of certification examinations. The outline defines the body of knowledge from which the Subboard samples to prepare its examinations. The content specification statements located under each category of the outline are used by item writers to develop questions for the examinations; they broadly address the specific elements of knowledge within each section of the outline. Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Each Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics exam is built to the same specifications, also known as the blueprint. This blueprint is used to ensure that, for the initial certification and in- training exams, each exam measures the same depth and breadth of content knowledge. Similarly, the blueprint ensures that the same is true for each Maintenance of Certification exam form. The table below shows the percentage of questions from each of the content domains that will appear on an exam. Please note that the percentages are approximate; actual content may vary. ‘American Idol’ Eliminated Contestant Tyanna Jones Takes Us Through Her Emotional Journey By Rebecca White American Idol reality TV star Tyanna Jones has been pursuing music since she was five years old. Growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, the 16-year-old has had a rough upbringing and was even homeless at one point. Her American Idol journey was no less emotional. In ourcelebrity interview, the eliminated contestant says that the show “at times can get really hard. My faith and my beliefs have helped me through a lot of that.” Behind the Scenes of Tyanna Jones’ American Idol Journey Making it into the top five of the singing competition is no easy task and all of the contestants have had good weeks as well as bad weeks. Jones was no different. The Jacksonville native had her own rough patch during the middle of the show. The judges were constantly questioning her choices, even though she was a front runner and power house from the beginning of the competition. University of Cincinnati April 2014 Committee Chair: Casey Hord, Ph.D. i Abstract Students with learning disabilities are the largest population of students receiving special education services and accommodations in schools. There is a large body of research on the academic needs of these students and potential interventions to support them in the classroom. But, there is substantially less research on the overall educational experiences of students with learning disabilities. In addition, there is a need for research that gives voice to individuals with learning disabilities to add to the conversation about how to support students with learning disabilities in achieving academic and personal success. The purposes of this study were to better understand the educational experiences of individuals with learning disabilities, give voice to their perspectives, and inform practice. An oral history narrative methodology was utilized to gain the stories and perspectives of five college students with learning disabilities. Findings included restoried narratives from the perspectives of the participants and general themes that emerged from thematic analysis of the data. Themes that emerged included: strength is gained from disability, teacher understanding can change educational experience, social implications surround disability, support from outside of school plays a role in life and success, educational policies may not be the best fit for every student, and disability stigma has changed. -

Whether seeking support for adults or children with communication disorders, ensuring everyone involved is as knowledgeable as possible is key to providing support to the individual and their family. This resource serves to be a guide to do just that. Communication disorders are some of the most common disabilities in the United States, affecting both children and adults. This book came together as part of a project to create a resource for graduate students and speech-language pathologists new to the field on the wide range of communication disorders that exist. We have found that it has become a valued resource for many educators and family members of those with communication disorders as well. In this book, we provide a wealth of information about specific disorders in an easily accessible format. The collaborative efforts of our group of speech-language pathologists over the past three years have grown the project’s resources into this book including, information on 24 communication disorders and related conditions. Our hope is to inform, educate and aid individuals with communication disorders, their families, and the people who work with them so they may receive impactful support and treatment. -

The New Orleans, Louisiana native was a contestant on season 14 ofAmerican Idol and made a name for himself during his time on the reality TV show. He blew audiences away with his performances each week, combining his emotion-filled vocals with stunning effects and clothing. The performer is self-assured in who he is, saying, “The type of artist I want to be is one that touches on all of the senses. A concert of mine would be something that would be just as appealing visually as it is musically.” In this celebrity interview, Alexander opens up about his experience on the show and his plans for the upcoming year. American Idol Contestant Shares How New Orleans Shaped Him As An Artist New Orleans is known as a cultural and musical epicenter of America and is a place that Alexander is lucky enough to call home. He cites his hometown as a major contributor to his artistry and personality overall. “Growing up there really played the biggest part in the way that I present my art and the way that I am,” he shares. “There are so many different musical and cultural influences, so many different ways of life all in one small bowl.
