Short Course 3: Hydrodynamics of Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations Dear Participant of the Third Short-Course of MARINET 2 MaRINET2 | Short Course 3: Hydrodynamics of Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations Dear participant of the third short-course of MARINET 2, MARIN and IH Cantabria are very happy to welcome you for the Hydrodynamic of Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations short- course in the main office of MARIN in Wageningen, The Netherlands! This document provides you with the practical information that you need for your travel and stay in Wageningen. The Netherlands is a small country, thus you may fly to any Dutch airport and you will manage to find a way to reach Wageningen from there. However, the most convenient airport is Schiphol’s airport, also known as Amsterdam’s airport. This airport contains a railway station that is connected to the station of Ede-Wageningen. From the station of Ede-Wageningen, there are busses to bring you to Wageningen. Bus 88 and 84 stop at the front door of MARIN’s main office (“Haagsteeg” bus-stop). In case you take another bus (like 86 from the station Ede-Wageningen, or 50 from the station of Utrecht) that stops at the bus station of Wageningen, it is at 10 min by foot from MARIN’s main office. On the first day, Tuesday 20th of November, we expect you between after 8h and before 8h30 at the main office of MARIN. There, you will have to register for the whole duration of the short-course. You will receive a visitor badge that you will keep for your whole stay. At 8h30, we will be brought to the training class room, where all the classes will take place. On the following days, we will go there on your own at the start of the day. Several sufficient hotels in Wageningen and its surrounding to host you. However, it is safe to book your room as soon as possible. The closest hotel is actually the hotel of the hotel school right opposite to MARIN’s office. The service is good and the price very competitive, but it is open from Monday till Friday and the number of places is limited: Hotel De Nieuwe Wereld, [email protected], www.denieuwewereld.nl The lunch will be taken at the cafeteria of MARIN.     EENHEID EENHEID Bennekom, Lunteren, Renkum, Rhenen,Veenendaal,Wageningen 702 oktober 2019 VOORWOORD De vakantietijd is voorbij. Vakantie, een wonderlijk fenomeen. Op het moment dat ik dit schrijf (eind augustus) zijn scholen weer begonnen en het gewone leven is op gang gekomen. Hoewel, de ouderen onder ons gaan juist in het naseizoen nog op stap, waaronder ikzelf. Bij ons in Rhenen is op 1 september het nieuwe verenigingsjaar van De Vlam gestart. Vakantie, een wat wonderlijk ritueel in deze tijd. Soms lijkt het wel of vakantie het enig belangrijke is. Twee of drie keer per jaar op stap wordt heel gewoon, ja vaak zelfs als noodzakelijk gezien. Gesprekken gaan over 'waar ben je geweest' in plaats van 'hoe gaat het met je'. Vliegschaamte lijkt niet te bestaan. Exotische oorden zijn in, men moet er geweest zijn. Maar meestal wordt men op die reizen alleen langs de toeristische punten geleid en leert men dat land dan toch niet echt kennen. Zelf ga ik graag naar Ierland, maar dan op eigen houtje. Zo ben ik daar getroffen door de Keltische en vroeg-christelijke cultuur die daar alom aanwezig en zichtbaar is en heb daar studie naar gedaan. Dan kom je wel verrijkt weer thuis. Een huisje op de Veluwe of aan het strand is uit. Kamperen in een eigen tentje is alleen nog voor enkele enthousiastelingen. Onlangs stond in Trouw een heel artikel over speciale vakanties. Wandel- fietsvakanties, bergklimmen, cruises, familievakanties of juist voor singles, een verwenvakantie voor je hond, letterlijk voor elk wat wils. Vooraf krijg je al keuzestress en wordt je vakantie een voortzetting van het jachtige leven.

    Een grensconflict met Bennekom in 1813 Kees Floor, Oud Veenendaal juni2019 De bepaling van de gemeentegrenzen van Veenendaal onder Frans bestuur in 1813 had veel voeten in de aarde. De gemeente Bennekom maakte namelijk aanspraak op een gebied dat bekend stond als het Benedeneind. Het Departement van de Boven-IJssel, waarvan Bennekom deel uitmaakte, steunde de gemeente daarin. Toen er een eind kwam aan het Franse bestuur was er nog geen besluit gevallen. Daarna werd de situatie van voor de komst van de Fransen weer in ere hersteld. Zo trok Veenendaal uiteindelijk aan het langste eind. In 1807 werd in Frankrijk een wet van kracht die de aanzet werd gaf tot de vorming van het Kadaster. Men hoopte daarmee tot een eerlijker stelsel van grondbelasting te komen. Volgens die wet moesten eerst landmeters de grenzen van alle gemeenten opmeten en vastleggen. Daarna deelden ze in overleg met de betrokken maires (burgemeesters) het grondgebied van elke gemeente op in secties. Vervolgens vond de opmeting van de afzonderlijke percelen plaats. Vanaf de annexatie van Nederland door Frankrijk in 1810 golden de Franse wetten ook in ons land. Daardoor moesten van de Nederlandse gemeenten eveneens de grenzen worden opgenomen. De eerste grensbepalingen werden afgerond in 1812. Veenendaal was aan de beurt in 1813. In die tijd vormden Stichts en Gelders Veenendaal één gemeente; Bennekom was zelfstandig. Bepaling van gemeentegrenzen De procedures die bij de activiteiten ter voorbereiding van het kadaster gevolgd moesten worden, stonden beschreven in een Franstalig draaiboek. Daarvan was ook een Nederlandstalige versie beschikbaar, de zogeheten Methodieke Verzameling (1). De grensbepaling van Veenendaal en andere gemeenten in het kanton Rhenen werd uitgevoerd door of onder leiding van de landmeter der eerste klasse B.

    Boniface in the Betuwe and the Vallei Christopher Rigg Local geography governed the movements of the missionaries who brought Christianity from Britannia to the northern Netherlands between about 680 and 760. The area of the Netherlands where their work was concentrated lies along the border between the modern provinces of Utrecht and Guelderland. That border follows a low-lying north-south valley, the Vallei or Guelder Vallei. To the south lies the flood-plain of the Rhine and the Meuse called the *Betuwe,1 part of Guelderland. It was known to the Romans as Batavia. Before the construction of dikes from about 1250, there was a network of channels. Each farm, church or other building was set on an artificial mound called terp or woerd. The centre of the missionaries' work was below the town of *Rhenen, which stands at the south-east point of the *Utrecht Hill Ridge overlooking the area where *Dorestad and *Trecht stood in the flood plain until both were destroyed by a severe flood in 1134.2 From the 4th/5th Century till 718, Rhenen was capital of the prosperous Kingdom of the *Frisiani.3 It traded with England, Denmark and Cologne. In 944 (g85 u106), it was the scene of the imperial council (rijksdag/Reichstag) of Otto the Great (912–973). By contrast, *Utrecht was uninhabited after the Romans departed until about 870.4 It lies 38 km north-west of Rhenen on the Utrecht Old Rhine, which ran north-west to the sea at Zandvoort west of Leyden (North Holland). That branch separates from the larger Lek at Wijk bij Duurstede 19 km west of Trecht and Dorestad.
