The area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan is the Lindfield and Lindfield Rural Parishes and incorporates the communities of Lindfield, Scaynes Hill and Walstead. Composing a Neighbourhood Plan is a very new and exciting way for communities such as ours to shape the future of the area we live in and I am very proud that our Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, with a great deal of community support, has progressed your plan to the submission stage. The process of creating your Neighbourhood Plan is being led by members of your community and is part of the Government’s recently revised approach to planning, which aims to give local people more say about what happens in the area in which we live.

  • MINUTES of the PLANNING COMMITTEE Held Virtually on Monday 9 November 2020
MINUTES of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held virtually on Monday 9 November 2020 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present: Janice Henwood Chairman Graham Allen Andrew Barrett-Miles Tofojjul Hussain Max Nielsen Kathleen Willis* Also Present: Peter Chapman Matthew Cornish Robert Duggan Robert Eggleston Anne Eves Lee Gibbs Sylvia Neumann * Denotes non-attendance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (19.00) 233. OPEN FORUM A member of the public addressed the Committee on DM/20/3953. They commented that at the last planning meeting the Council had recommended refusal on an application to fell three oaks. DM/20/3953 was another example where the resident would like to see the Council question the reasoning for felling an oak tree. The oak trees were an amenity and a community asset, and contributed to the character of the community. The resident understood that the tree was potentially causing issues to a property, but it should be a last resort to fell the tree. A second member of the public spoke on DM/20/3953. The tree was on their property. The member of the public had recently spoken to Councillor Anne Eves, this was the first they had heard there was an issue with the tree. They understood that the neighbour was having issues with subsidence on their conservatory, and previously an ash tree on the industrial estate behind the properties had been felled to try and resolve this. The tree was an amenity on the property, and blocked an unattractive view of the neighbouring industrial estate. The resident had been looking at alternatives, and there was a suggestion that trimming the tree could help with the issue.

Newsletter Friday, 14 June 2019 "Thank you for taking my daughter to Wales and giving her such an incredible opportunity. When she came home she seemed 5 years older! She had the time of her life and has not stopped talking about it since. She returned full of confidence and a belief that she can do anything." (Year 7 mum) Confidence – Opportunity – Potential Year 7 pushed themselves to the limit in Snowdonia participating in some really adventurous and challenging activities last week; Year 8 showed resilience and grit as they coped with some inclement weather in France after half term; they have also just enjoyed competing in the Copthorne “Bake-off” challenge, judged by professional chefs, with the cakes, scones and sandwiches shared with their parents; Year 6 children are cycling their way towards passing Bikeability awards (the HM failed his cycling proficiency test when he was 11!); children swam well at Ardingly despite not having trained in the school pool for several weeks (it is now open again!); Emi W came first in the IAPS National Under 12 Butterfly final and Katie F was second in the U11 Breaststroke event, held at the National Aquatic Centre in London. Our young chess players were magnificent in the UKI Championships, with the girls team victorious and the boys in second place; our wonderful “Carnival Float” committee were out in force last weekend preparing for tomorrows Horley Carnival; “Moving up“ morning enabled children from Oaks to Year 3 to spend time meeting their new teachers and classmates from September; sadly, Year 2 Rock pooling, Wednesdays sport and Thursday night Year 5 camping have all fallen foul of the weather, BUT the last two weeks have helped to develop children’s confidence, provide them with a wide range of opportunities, and has helped them realise their potential.
