But when Casey gets the chance to train with Gen and her coach, a disgraced former skating champion who Lettice: The Ice Princess happens to be Gen's mother, she must dash her own mother's hopes in order to pursue her dream. Now, with only the support of Gen's teenage brother, a hunky Zamboni driver, Casey takes on the challenge of her life when she finds herself competing against the best to make it into the championship circuit and become a real "ice princess. Because a movie about figure skating comes around once a decade and tonight is the ladies world figure skating world championships, I'm in a great mood as I write this. This may explain why I liked the movie when I don't feel that I should have. To be honest, I think I liked the film because I love figure skating. At least this Disney "Princess" film didn't star Anne Hathaway. Instead, Michelle Lettice: The Ice Princess played pretty much the same role but more appealingly. I never watched "Buffy", so I only knew of her from the Discovery Channel's "Truth of Scare" series in which she sounds like a robot. But I really like her in this movie. With some inflection in her voice, she's an effective and appealing actress. I'm not the tween audience this film is targeted for, so maybe this is why the movie's lack of realism really bothered me throughout the film. I would like to see a movie about Lettice: The Ice Princess that show's the sport's realistic Lettice: The Ice Princess competitive side more. This film showed it in a Disney, comical sense but this film is just as much a fantasy as The Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast. Overall, the film was enjoyable and I liked the theme to follow your dream and the main character's maturity and toughness. But this film doesn't make me want for more G rated films that aren't animated. Looking for some great streaming picks? Natalia Polosmak and her team discovered the Ice Maiden during the summer ofwhen she was a senior research fellow at the Russian Lettice: The Ice Princess of Archaeology and Ethnography in Lettice: The Ice Princess. It was Polosmak's fourth season working on the Ukok Plateau where the Institute was continuing its research into the early habitation of southern Siberia. The Ice Maiden was a representative of the Pazyryk culture that thrived between the 6th and 2nd centuries BC in Lettice: The Ice Princess Siberian steppe. The plateau, part of the Eurasian Steppes, is characterized by a harsh, arid climate. Polosmak and her team were guided by a border guard, Lt. Mikhail Chepanov, to a group of kurgans located in a strip of territory disputed between Russia and China. The Ice Maiden's tomb chamber was constructed in this way, and the wood and other organic materials present have allowed her burial to be dated. Before Polosmak and her crew reached the Ice Maiden's chamber, they hit upon a second later Lettice: The Ice Princess in the same kurgan positioned on top of the Maiden's wooden tomb chamber. The contents included a stone and wood coffin containing a skeleton, along Lettice: The Ice Princess three horses. Polosmak believes that this secondary burial was that of an outside group, perhaps of subordinate peoples, who considered it honorable to bury their dead in Pazyryk kurgans. The water collected, froze, and formed an ice block within the chamber which never fully thawed because of the steppe climate, permafrost, and the rocks piled on top of the mound which deflected the sun's rays.

As proved by numerous references, the most popular of the Arzhan II finds was the stylized image of the Scythian stag on a golden hair pin. It has since appeared on the photo taken by Russian photographer Andrei Bronnikov, whose main subject is jewelry. Tattoo artists in English-speaking regions have seen an uptick in customers requesting Scythian stag tattoo designs, due in large part to the discovery of the popularly dubbed “Ukok Princess” and increase in interest in prehistoric fantasy media. Russian-speaking fashion designers redefine textile and ornament in the twenty-first century, influenced by the golden accents of the looped stag in their work, at times inventing an embellished narrative of the past. Folk crafters have created costume and jewelry designs for a different world they wish to inhabit, even creating alter-egos and stories that accompany Scythian-inspired pieces. Finally, within Tuva, wood carving continues thanks to trailblazers that promote folk handicrafts through education and archival work. Artists around the world are fascinated by this unique relic of the past and employ the symbol in romantic imaginings of their past and present.

    Panel 1A: International Affairs and State Policy Persia Goudarzi [email protected] University of California, Los Angeles Majors: Aerospace Engineering and Russian Studies “Alliances of the East: How the Interplay between NATO Enlargement and Russia’s Balance-of- Power Policy Has Undermined Western Interests” This article examines the development of Russia’s foreign policy in relation to eastward expansion of NATO in the post-Cold War era. When the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia, economically in disarray and militarily weak, was eager to integrate with the West and envisaged a partnership with NATO. However, integration with the alliance appeared unlikely when NATO expansion created a European security structure that excluded Russia. To balance the power with NATO, Russia began looking for alternatives in Asia. Moscow’s top foreign policy agenda became strengthening ties with the East and forming alliances. The first alliance, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), is a Eurasian military organization, essentially a factor for political and military deterrence, comprising of 6 states from the former Soviet Union. The second alliance is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), primarily focused on security cooperation among its members. The two organizations cooperate politically, militarily and economically. CSTO and SCO together create a military bloc with deterrence capabilities and security missions that resembles that of NATO, forming a counter structure to NATO in the East. Through these two alliances, Russia has managed to establish control over a strategically important region that holds half of the world’s natural gas reserves and 25% of all oil reserves. The region is geopolitically important for NATO operations in combating terrorism in Afghanistan and transferring troops and equipment to that country.
