WAWACAN SULANJANA STRUCTURE ANALYSIS August 12, 2021 Iim Saepur Rohim, Dedi Koswara Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Introduction FPBS UPI • Today many teenagers are more familiar with literary works in the form of comics, novels and short stories which are one of the new literary works. • Judging from human life, past or present literary works are always associated with life, both about social conditions in society, rules of life, culture and about customs. • Damono in Koswara (2010: 10) explains that literary works are created by authors to feel their beauty, be understood and can be utilized by the public. Sundanese literature is one of the richness of Sundanese culture. One of the wawacan, the wawacan when viewed from its shape is wawacan. • Kalsum (2015: 61) Wawacan sulanjana is one of the ancient manuscripts that uses the Sundanese language in the study of Sundanese mythology and the tradition of respecting bitter melon in the traditions of the Sundanese people, in particular and tells about Dewi Paré or Nyai Sri Pohaci. • This study aims to examine structur of Sri Sadana Sulanjana based on model analysis develoved by Vladimir Propp and Semiotik structure. The principal issues examined in this study include character functions, schemes and pattern of stories, function distributions among characters, and the elements semiotic. FPBS UPI Method • The mothod used qualitative descriptive method with classification techniques through literature. • Study Qualitative research is research that aims to understand every phenomenon experienced by research subjects such as behavior, motivation, action, etc. holistically, and descriptively in the form of words and language, in certain contexts that are reasonable and useful. various natural methods • The method used in this research is descriptive. The procedures used in this method are 1) collecting data, 2) data analysis, and 3) data conclusions. • The purpose of using the descriptive method in this research is to analyze and describe the formal structure and narrative structure contained in the Wawacan Sulanjana manuscript. FPBS UPI Findings and Discussion • The Sulanjana Wawacan is one of the mythological wawacans that discusses the birth of Dewi Sri and the History of Rice. In this wawacanm story, it is also discussed about secondary crops in the form of rice, sticky rice, etc. • Vladimir Propp is a Russian fairy tale researcher who composes the characters found in almost every narrative with their functions in the story. Before going to the theme, there are several things that must be analyzed, including the analysis of Guru Wilangan and Guru Song of all the paragraphs in Wawacan Sulanjana which totals 284 paragraphs, there are several paragraphs that are not in accordance with the Pupuh standard. Same with sasmita pupuh from 11 pupuh, not all contents of Wawacan Sulanjana contain sasmita, there are only 2 namely Pupuh Mijil and Pupuh Dangdanggula. • The theme of this wawacan is discussing about Déwi Pohaci and Sulanjana • The line used in the story of Wawacan Sulanjana is the Forward Line. FPBS UPI Findings and Discussion • The characters, namely Déwi Pohaci and Sulanjana, have a compassionate nature, as the main characters. Then, as the second character, namely Batara Guru, Paji Narada, Déwa Anta, Gumarang Cow, Budug Basu jeung Sang Kala Created by Dewi Uma Putri, Aki Bagawat, Prabu Siliwangi, Nyi Mas Déwi Nawang Wulan and the last one is Ki Semar. In the story Wawacan Sulanjana there are additional characters, namely Heulang striped, Radén Kaliwon, Radén Patih Jiad Santana, Radén Patya, and Radén Putra. • The setting in the story of Wawacan Sulanjana is the setting of place, time, and atmosphere. The background of the wawacan places are Sawargaloka, Places of the Mostgihan, Tegal Kapapan, Pasabrangan, Nyi Pohaci Grave, Pakuan, Jalan, Paséban, Pendopo, Sawah, Galuh, Nagara Kalbu, jeung Walungan. The time setting is Wednesday night 7 o'clock, Old Age, Jumaah, Jeung Wanci is having nipples. The background of the atmosphere is happiness, and war. • The point of view in Sulanjana's Wawacan is unlimited third person. • In the Sulanjana Wawacan there are several styles of language used, namely hyperbole and personification. FPBS UPI Conclusion • After analyzing the Wawacan Sulanjana story, there is a structure and mythology. • The structure is Guru Wilangan, Guru Song, character pupuh, sasmita pupuh, theme, plot, character, character, setting of place, setting of atmosphere, setting of time, point of view, style of language, symbols, irony and mythology. • As for the results of the analysis and description, 8 criteria of pupuh were collected, including the pupuh Asmarandana, Sinom, Kinanti, Pangkur, Dangdanggula, Mijil, Durma, and Magatru. • In general, the theme is about Déwi Pohaci or Déwi Sri and Sulanjana, 19 characters are found, 2 main characters, 10 second characters, and 7 additional actors, 21 plots found are forward plots. • And there are 26 backgrounds, including 9 place settings, 4 time settings, and 13 atmosphere settings. The point of view used is unlimited third person. • The language style used in this research is hyperbole and personification, 3 symbols, and irony is found from the beginning of the story to the end of the story.
