UDT 2018 UNDERSEA DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY SEC, Glasgow Visit us on Stand C2 AVON PROTECTION AT UDT 2018 Avon Protection has more than 130 years of experience, delivering performance innovation, design and engineering solutions. Avon Protection’s capabilities include the design, development, test and manufacture of respirators, filters, escape hoods, powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs), self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), hybrid systems, thermal imaging, dive computers and closed circuit rebreathers. Over our history of innovation, design and engineering, we have exclusively focused on the military, law enforcement, firefighting and industrial markets, understanding the unique requirements of these specialist, high threat, user groups. This depth of understanding and specialisation has enabled Avon Protection to become the recognised global market leader for respiratory products in this field. PRODUCTS ON SHOW MCM100 MDC150 Mi-TIC S NH15 COMBO 2 AVON PROTECTION AT UDT 2018 MCM100 The MCM100 is a configurable platform to meet multiple military Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) requirements. It is a fully closed circuit, electronically controlled, mixed gas rebreather CE tested to 100m, suitable for a large range of military or tactical diving disciplines such as Mine Countermeasure (MCM), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) shallow or deep, Mine Investigation and Exploitation (MIE) and Special Operations Forces (SOF). MDC150 The next generation of military dive computer with real-time data/ decompression logging and a custom interface which is fully reconfigurable allowing reprogramming as requirements change. The multiple algorithm capability allows for end user decompression system inclusion. The robust and ergonomic form has been specifically designed for use in demanding military diving applications. Mi-TIC S. The Mi-TIC S is a premium lightweight thermal imaging camera optimised for naval damage control teams and on-board use. The high performance components, selected to deliver an 1100c degree dynamic range and increased resistance to high temperatures, fully sealed buttons and battery compartment to IP67 and protected thermal sensor, all ensure that the Mi-TIC S is unrivalled in maritime fire-fighting and damage control. NH15 COMBO The NH15 Combo is a revolutionary new carbon monoxide (CO) resistant, super compact CBRN escape hood, based on Avon’s widely acclaimed NIOSH approved NH15. The NH15 Combo offers unsurpassed levels of respiratory protection for escape from hazardous environments, particularly when dangerously high levels of CO are present or likely in combination with other toxic materials and gases such as found in a smoke filled environment. 3 AVON PROTECTION AT UDT 2018 Some of the largest and most significant evolutionary steps were made by the Italian MILITARY DIVING: Navy in the 1930s, effectively taking an escape rebreather, the Davis Submerged Escape Apparatus, and developing it for use by the Decima Flottiglia MAS commando EVOLUTION unit. With the adoption of the rebreather by specialist military units during World War 2, its use began to transition from commercial VS REVOLUTION work and military escape to an ever increase range of mission profiles carried out by specialist units, aka the “Frogmen”. Since their early commercial inception in 1878, rebreathers have changed little in their basic operation and use; absorbing Carbon Dioxide These mission profiles have continued to grow, creating an ever-increasing list of from exhaled breath and injecting Oxygen, ready for the next inhalation capability requirements from the diver, of breath. Over the years, incremental changes have been made to which has driven industry forward. From rebreathers to improve efficiency, duration, ergonomics and functional the basic concept of a Frogman, 8 distinct military dive disciplines have been born; control but fundamentally, these have been evolutions of existing sets. Combat Swimmer; Covert Subsurface Infiltration; Maritime Counter-Terrorism; Submarine Release & Infiltration; Manned Underwater Vehicle Operations; EOD and Clearance; Mine Counter Measures (MCM); and Very Shallow MCM. To support the military diver, industry has responded to each of these disciplines with a specific dive set, able to offer some of the capability for some of the missions but rarely most of the capability for most of the missions, until now. Earlier this year, Avon Protection launched the MCM100, a deep diving (100m CE rated), air and mixed gas, electronic control rebreather. The MCM100 rebreather was designed and developed around the diver, to deliver enhanced multi-role capability in the form of a new long endurance, electronically controlled 4 AVON PROTECTION AT UDT 2018 Mushroom Valves rebreather capable of integrating with a range of military diving applications, in Over-Pressure particular mine warfare and Special Forces, Exhaust Valve MOUTHPIECE including Covert Subsurface Infiltration, Submarine Release & Infiltration and Manned Underwater Vehicle Operations. The launch of the MCM100 heralds INHALE EXHALE a revolutionary change in rebreather COUNTER-LUNG COUNTER-LUNG technology, placing two key elements at the heart of the platform; diver safety and multi-role mission capability.
