Hunter-Reay, the 2012 IndyCar Series champion, returns to the SRT Motorsports team he competed with in 2012 and is looking forward to getting the upcoming racing season off to a good start overall. “The SRT Motorsports program has come such a long way in a short period of time,” Hunter-Reay said. “This is truly one of the most competitive forms of GT class racing in the world and for the Viper GTS-R team to earn three poles and a win last season is outstanding.     Laurel Racing Camaro History The story of the Laurel Racing 1970 Camaro begins in 1968. In 1968 and 1969, Laurel Racing successfully campaigned a 1968 Camaro in Trans Am, A Sedan, and endurance races. As a result of this success, in 1970, Chevrolet Product Performance offered to support Laurel Racing’s effort in Chevrolet’s new “second generation” Camaro. Chevrolet had achieved great success in the Trans Am series with its first generation Camaro. When the second generation Camaro was introduced, the “Win on Sunday. Sell on Monday” philosophy led Chevrolet to offer its top performing teams new second generation Camaros. Based on this commitment, Larry Drover, owner of Laurel Racing offered his 1968 Camaro for sale. To sell his “first generation” Camaro, Larry placed a classified ad in Autoweek. The text of Larry’s advertisement read: Trans Am Camaro. Very competitive. Full roll cage, 1969 engine, all new suspension, mags, all possible factory options, extra wheels, 4 gear ratios, extra engine if desired. Preparing 1970 automobile. Note that the Camaro is a 1968, but it is sporting a 1969 cowl induction crossram hood. Later, the front body panels would also be converted to the 1969 versions. February 2, 1969.     Kausi toi mestaruuksia. Terveisiä kilpa-autoilun maailmasta. Kausi 2008 oli täynnä jännittäviä tapahtumia ja tulok- set mukavia. Ohessa kooste kauden tapahtumista. Kaudeksi 2008 valitsimme kilpailuluokaksi Formula Re- nault 2.0 –luokan ja tiimiksi Tommi Suvannon P1 Mo- torsportin. Tommilla on vuosien kokemus formuloista ja hyviä tuloksia saavutuksenaan. Autoksi sain tehdasuuden laitteen, jonka Tommi haki Italiasta maaliskuussa. Italiasta auto vietiin suoraan Eng- lantiin Alan Dockingin pajalle. Uuden auton saattaminen kilpailukuntoon vei 4-5 mekaanikolta 7 päivää ja työtun- teja kertyi keskimäärin 14 tuntia per päivä. Ei siis ihan pikkujuttu ottaa uutta Formulaa käyttöön. Työn tekemi- nen ammattilaisten avustuksella kuitenkin oli kannatta- vaa sillä yhtään teknistä vikaa ei kauden aikana ollut ja laite oli kilpailukykyinen. Ajoimme ensimmäisen ”Shake Down -testin Silverstonen Stowe radalla ja seuraavana päivänä osallistumme Englannin FR 2.0 sarjan viralli- seen testipäivään. Iltapäivällä vauhtimme oli jo kärjen tasoa ja pienet ongelmat ratkaistuna. Suuret kiitokset Alan Dockingille ja hänen henkilökun- nalleen tästä korvaavattomasta avusta. Näillä eväillä oli hyvä suunnistaa kohti Suomea. Ensimmäinen Formula Renault –kisa Riikassa 3-4.5.2008 Suomessa ajettujen Alastaron ja Vetelin testien jälkeen oli suuntanamme Latvian Riika. Siellä oli tarkoitus ajaa ensimmäinen NEZ-sarjan osakilpailu. Se oli samalla mi- nun ensimmäinen kilpailuviikonloppuni Formula Renault –luokan autolla. Riikan rata oli erittäin hieno. Keskinopeus radalla oli 170 km/h ja rataa ympäröi noin metrin korkuiset betonivallit. Radalla ei ollut juuri ollenkaan turva-aluetta, joka tarkoitti ulosajon merkitsevän täystuhoa. Yksi luokkani autoista osuikin seinään, eikä sillä sen jälkeen ole ajettu. Testit Riikassa sujui hyvin ja olin koko testien ajan no- pein, vaikka olin ensimmäistä kertaa radalla. Aika-ajot sujui testien tapaan hyvin ja otin paalut molempiin lähtöi- hin.

The development of promising talented drivers enjoys a long tradition at BMW Motorsport. In 2014 a new multi-level GT junior concept had been introduced: the BMW Motorsport Junior Programme. This realignment saw BMW Motorsport shift its development of young drivers back to the GT and touring car sector. In Formula racing the concept bore fruit for many years in Formula BMW and the Formula BMW Talent Cup and kick-started the racing career of many successful drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg and Nico Hülkenberg. The focus is on GT and touring car drivers who already have some racing experience. Outings in the BMW M235i Racing are an integral part of the comprehensive training programme. As well as race starts and test drives, intensive theory courses dealing with fitness and PR are planned, as are mental and simulator training. The potential candidates for this year’s class were put to the test in a shootout in the BMW M235i Racing in Dijon on 10th/11th March. A decision as to which of the young drivers showed the most potential is made by a jury of experts, headed by BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. BMW works driver Dirk Adorf will act as a mentor for the junior programme. At the end of the year, the most successful BMW Motorsport Junior of the season will be given the opportunity to continue his training for a second year in a higher racing category.
