Traditional, orthodox – Catholic and Evangelical – for modern people.

Bravo - ' Church, Dothan! The Saturday, September 22nd Teaching Mission was a stunning success, beyond our imagination, brilliantly achieved, and a triumph of God's grace.

Betty Peters reads the at the morning Mass. Anglicans can do evangelism after all. Everyone worked so hard following the leadership of Andrea Granger, the Senior Warden. The congregation all wore blue shirts with the APA logo on them so that attendees from outside the parish would know who the helpers were. Betty Peters is wearing one of these in the photograph above. Everyone worked so hard. The concept rolled out week after week, the hard work paid off, and Saint Matthias' Anglican Church got publicity, demonstrated effective outreach, and received brilliant teaching by our Suffragan , The Rt. Rev'd Chandler Holder Jones. Bishop Chad spoke on the subject of the Christian's hope: “From Glory to Glory Advancing: the Afterlife in Anglican Christian Tradition.” Eternal life, resurrection of the body, Paradise, the Communion of , and reunion with those we have known and loved in were but a few of the day’s topics. The day began with Holy Communion, a delicious lunch was furnished, and Bishop Chad answered many of the most important questions about death, hope and eternal life. Rhonda Kale accompanied by Alexey Trushechkin, from Saint James the Great, beautifully sang Schubert's Ave Maria at Mass. The entire mission exceeded our greatest expectations. We could not have done this without the prayers and financial support of All Souls Anglican Church in Asheboro, North Carolina. In the Acts of the three Greek words stand out: kerygma or proclamation of the , diakonia or servant ministry, and koinonia or fellowship. The congregation of Saint Matthias' Church in Dothan demonstrated all three to a very high degree. Their use of time, talent, and treasure showed what a very small mission, with the help of sister parishes, can do effectively. It was hard to come away from the weekend with anything less than exuberant enthusiasm. This Teaching and Evangelistic Mission was an example of how wonderful it is to be a member of the Anglican Province of America. "Well done good and faithful servants" at St. Matthias' Church, Dothan.

The Suffragan Bishop's Visitation - September 23, 2018 - at Saint James the Great, Smiths Staion

Jacob Jeffrey Hill receives the Sacrament of Confirmation The Suffragan Bishop's Visitation and Confirmation on Sunday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. (EST) with lunch following, followed the Teaching Mission at Dothan. Bishop Chad had dinner with Jake and Jessica Hill the evening before. The church was packed, every chair taken, and the choir sang Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus. Unfortunately, after nine hour of public speaking and a rather bad allergy, the Suffragan Bishop lost his voice. Fr. Klein celebrated and preached and Bishop Chad pontificated and confirmed. We also had Deaconess Claire and Cheryl Unterberger in attendance, which was a special blessing. We are so thrilled to be richly blessed at Saint James the Great Anglican Church in Smiths Station, Alabama. Join us every Sunday at 11:00 AM (EST).

The Holy Land Save the Date - February 11-20, 2019 Come see and trace the footsteps of . Join me on a journey to and the holy sights of our Lord’s ministry next year. If you have a mom or dad who has always wanted to go to the Holy Land, give them this gift. Perhaps friends who go on cruises every year, this is the best ever. I think all Christians, if they can afford the time and treasure, owe it to themselves to go on pilgrimage to Jerusalem. The package price - including all airfare, four star hotels, breakfast and dinner daily, all entrance fees, a trained guide and with Bishop "Chad" Chandler Holder Jones and me as the spiritual directors of the pilgrimage - is $2998 double occupancy per person (plus approximately $695 airport taxes and fuel surcharge as of May 2018). This makes the total about $3343.00. There will also be gratuities to the driver and hotel staff - $125 per participant is suggested. And, of course, some will want to buy an , oriental carpet, or ride a camel. This is a ten day religious pilgrimage in a traditional, orthodox Anglican manner. We will pray Morning and Evening Prayer daily, celebrate the Eucharist at major holy sites, and sing sacred hymns in the holiest settings. We will even carry a wooden cross along the Via Dolorosa as we walk the Way of the Cross.
