The Seniors of 1951 present this yearbook in the hope that we have honestly depicted school life. It was our intention, while can­ piling this book, to rmke it one which you would enjoy. We hope, that in this task, we have not failed.

On the first day of school~ thirtv.-three pupils entered the seventh and ei~th grade room. uu.ring the year the enrollrrent in­ creased to thirty-five. Each day of tk year has reen filled with ouch learning, many activities, and gOod times. We were very honored that the Stu:lent Cotmcil saw fit to award us first prize in the ChristJms decoration contest. We have reasons for being protd of our Junior High Basketball team whQ._rmintained a fine r~cord. The team,~>layed 111 two tourna­ rrents. 1hey woo the chanpionship in the Dixon County Toornarrent. They also plaY.ed at the Wayne Invitational Tournament. The fellows who rmde up the first team were Sam !san, Jack Dietz, I.Brry MlcAfee Fred Kier, and Bruce Hutchin~. The five cheerleaders who so faithfully clieered them on are Mircia Koester, Gwyrm Truhe, Deanna Schneider, Ver lyn Isom and Donna Lundin.

In the County COntest the contestants from Allen placed first in Poetry Interpretation and in Interpretative Oratory, and second in all other fields, thereby winning the troJiw. This outcone was re~ated in the District Contest with ~enette Good.reP.lacing.the.ori~al Extemporaneous contestant. Gloria ~Y rece1vea good 1n D1scuss1on. At the Fine Arts Festival in lincoln, Mary Jean Li.schke received s~~rior and Stephen Hanson received excellent in their respective dlVlS10ns. Other activities in the Dramatic field this year included the Jqnior ~lass glay, 'January Thaw,' at which a capable cast gave an adm1rable perlonnance. ~ ~ Fres~n presented their annual Christmas play for the asseL11.1.4 .-. After two weeks rehearsal the Seniors presented 'You Can't Take it·With You"' a Broadway production. This play, presented Miy 3 and 4, concludea the Dramat1c Season.

BOYS GLEE CLUB: At the t:Ure the Qicture of Box's Glee was taken, tbe group was working on two song_s; 'Prayer' and Sing rre a Cllantey with a Yo-Heave-Ho. ' These were the cnes decided upon to sing at the Festival and contests this year.

BOYS QUARTET: This ~om>, who san_g the Negro spiritual 'Who's Illt A'Callin' ~~' consisted of Courtland Kroerts~ r:ugene Magnusoo, Arlen Ellis, and Archie yen. The boys also used 'nollm' Do.vri to JOrdan,' as a contest number. GIRLS TRIO: Marlene Nelsm, Janet Koester, and Glennagale Isan com­ posed this trio which sang 'Snow Adventure' at the various contests.

After a weeks p:::.-actice tre Eagles started their basketball season at .Wayne. Through the season the team won three games and lost th1rteen. At the District Tournament at Wakefield the boys reacted to the enthusiasm of their fans and came home with the th1rd place trophy. This put a happy ending to a rather unsuccessful season.
