ANNOUNCEMENTS

2019 One Great Hour of Sharing Collection More than We can Imagine

One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) is a Christian effort to empow- er, provide water, supply food, and give relief from disasters. Both the American Baptist Church (ABC) and United Church of Christ (UCC) have long supported and participated in this worthy cause.

Back in 1950, the title “One Great Hour of Sharing” was used for the first time. Its goal was to make the love of Christ real for individuals and communities around the world who suffered the effects of dis- aster, conflict, or severe economic hardship, and for those who serve them through gifts of money and time. Today, projects are underway in more than 100 countries, including the United States and Canada. In the 1990s, receipts have exceeded $20 million annually. While specific allocations differ in each denomination, all use their One Great Hour of Sharing funds to make possible disaster relief, refugee assistance, development aid and more. (ref: www.onegreathourofsharing.org/about-us)

Continuing in this tradition, here at CFC we will take part in the 2019 OGHS collection “More the We can Imagine” on April 14th. The Ministry of Mission & Witness will divide proceeds from the collection equal- ly between ABC and UCC’s OGHS projects. We ask that you prayerfully consider giving to the 2019 OGHS. Thank you – Your Mission & Witness Team: Joan Frantzen, Laurie Gerundo, Shelly Hirsch, Susan Sanford & Todd Simonds
