The content of this document however is by no means extensive and exhaustive and acts only as a guide to the operations of both the league and club structure in our region. All clubs can access the official community game guidelines and Operational Rules via www.therfl.co.uk. 2014 London Youth, Junior & Primary League: 1. The 2014 LYJPL will aim to develop and deliver rugby league in London and the South East of England. 2. The LYJPL will aspire to offer safe, qualified and competitive environments in which all participants can grow and develop as individuals based upon ethics of community, RESPECT and enjoyment. 3. The LYJPL will be recognised as one of the first steps on the Player Performance Pathway by offering fair and nationally recognised talent identification systems that will allow our most talented of performers to progress as far as their ability, commitment and ultimately talent will allow. -

What the five winners of this year's Young Community Leaders Awards have in common, though, is a dedication to social work, rather than their social lives. Emma Daken, Teresa Edge, Henare Mihaere, Fofo Molia and Libby Tuite were chosen from nearly 60 nominees to receive the awards, which recognised Wellingtonians under the age of 25 working in the not-for- profit sector, either as a volunteer or in a paid position. We visited Saddleworth last season, the first time we had played them since the old clubhouse was demolished, the new clubhouse and changing rooms are fantastic and amongst the best in the NCL. Well done to all those involved in these improvements. Honours were even last time we played in 2016, Saddleworth winning at their place 42 – 22 and we got the points at home 16 – 10. The season has really had a shocking start weather wise for some clubs, this is only Saddleworths second game of the season and no doubt they will be hoping to get off the mark after a defeat at Askam two weeks ago. We have been more fortunate with no postponements but after our flier in the first game away at Leigh East we have come a bit unstuck with defeats at home to Dewsbury Moor and away last week at Wigan St Judes. -

Rugby League as a Televised Product in the United States of America By Mike Morris Abstract Rugby league is a form of rugby that is more similar to American football than its more globally popular cousin rugby union. This similarity to the United States of America’s most popular sport, that country’s appetite for sport, and its previous acceptance of foreign sports products makes rugby league an attractive product for American media outlets to present and promote. Rugby league’s history as a working-class sport in England and Australia will appeal to American consumers hungry for grit and authenticity from their favorite athletes and teams.
