MS 535 St. Louis & Co. Ledger 1878 - 1879

DESCRIPTION

The St. Louis Gold & Silver Mining Co. ledger contains stockholder information associated with the company between 1878 and 1879. There are two separate listings of individuals or companies and stock quantities purchased in the ledger. One listing consists of 15 names with many Tucson representatives present. The other listing in the alphabetical section contains names of individuals outside the Tucson/Arizona area. Locations of these stockholders cover other states and one entry for stocks to G. O. Rogers of Hong Kong, . A separate section contains a chronological listing of the stock quantities and issuing dates but no names of purchasers. This section was maintained by the trustee J. D. Graham. A final section in the ledger lists the names and addresses for 42 firms supplying mining tools or machinery.

HISTORICAL NOTE

The St. Louis Gold & Silver Mining Company operated from the Aztec Mining District in Arizona near the Greaterville, AZ area. This company and mine was part of the Toltec Syndicate responsible for four mines including the Syndicate, the Saint Louis, the Forsythe, and the Rickard mines. The managing director for the group was COL. J. D. Graham.
