The vineyard sits at altitude, on soils that mix clay and decomposed volcanic material, on the southern slopes of Monte Vulture. AGE OF VINES: 80-100+ years WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested at the end of November. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Aged in tank for one year; in 500L oak tonneaux for another year; then for an additional year in bottle. Unfined and unfiltered. TASTING IMPRESSIONS: Aromas of cherries, licorice, black summer berries, hints of chocolate. Smooth, silky; very deep and complex. Long. PROCEDURE E MODALITA' SPERIMENTALI Il Consorzio di Tutela dell’Aglianico del Vulture, informa le Aziende produttrici che a partire dal 01 Maggio 2015 su tutti gli imbottigliamenti di vino Aglianico del Vulture D.O.C. devono essere applicati i contrassegni di Stato. Si adottano, pertanto, in via sperimentale, le procedure di seguito indicate. Le Aziende che intendono imbottigliare vino Aglianico del Vulture D.O.C. devono sottoporre la partita di vino all’esame chimico-fisico ed organolettico e, una volta ottenuto il certificato di idoneità rilasciato dalla C.C.I.A.A. di Potenza, potranno acquistare il quantitativo di fascette presso il Consorzio di Tutela corrispondente agli ettolitri totali o parziali della partita certificata o agli ettolitri della partita imbottigliata. In quest’ultimo caso l’Azienda dovrà inviare duplice comunicazione di imbottigliamento alla C.C.I.A.A. di Potenza. La prima comunicazione di imbottigliamento con l’imputazione del lotto va trasmessa, alla C.C.I.A.A. di Potenza, entro sette giorni dalla conclusione delle operazioni di imbottigliamento allegando copia dell’avvenuto versamento relativo alla quota imbottigliatore prevista dal tariffario; la seconda con l’imputazione del numero dei contrassegni di Stato in seguito all’apposizione degli stessi. La distribuzione delle fascette è gestita dal Consorzio di Tutela dell’Aglianico del Vulture con sede presso l’Alsia, c.da Incoronata, Melfi (PZ).
