Travelling to

Quadra Island is the largest of the Discovery

Islands and is a 10 minute ride from Campbell River.

This scenic island, borderland between the Kwakwaka’wakw and First Nation groups, is also the dynamic point of change where the tides of the south and meet.

Quadra Island was called "Tsa-Kwa-Luten," which means “speakers of Kwak'wala."

Travel directions outlined are mainly Island based - from Victoria or .

Travel by Car

Vancouver Island’s 19 runs from Victoria to Campbell River and is well maintained.

Approximate driving distances times are:  Victoria to Campbell River, 265 km, 3 hours  Nanaimo to Campbell River, 155km, 1.5 hours

Pacific Coastal Airlines operate daily scheduled flights between the (YBL) and Vancouver Airport’s South Terminal (YVR) with approximately one hour flying time. These flights leave from a smaller, adjacent airport in Vancouver called the South Terminal. A shuttle bus service runs frequently between Vancouver Main Terminal and the South Terminal.

Travel by Ferry

Vancouver Island / Vancouver

BC provides regular vehicle and passenger ferry service between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Major routes are Horseshoe Bay in Vancouver to in Nanaimo; , south of Richmond (Vancouver), to Duke Point, south of Nanaimo; and, Tsawwassen to in Saanich (north of Victoria).

Campbell River / Quadra Island

BC Ferries provides regular vehicle and passenger ferry service between Campbell River and Quadra Island.

Travel by Bus

Daily scheduled service is provided by Greyhound between the Vancouver Island North and the rest of Vancouver Island, with stops available in most communities. There is a terminal located in Campbell River.

Approximate times are:  Vancouver to Campbell River – 6 hours  Victoria to Campbell River – 6 hours approximately  Nanaimo to Campbell River – 3 hours
