Travelling to Quadra Island Quadra Island is the largest of the Discovery Islands and is a 10 minute ferry ride from Campbell River. This scenic island, borderland between the Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish First Nation groups, is also the dynamic point of change where the tides of the south and north island meet. Quadra Island was called "Tsa-Kwa-Luten," which means “speakers of Kwak'wala." Travel directions outlined are mainly Vancouver Island based - from Victoria or Nanaimo. These flights leave from a smaller, adjacent airport in Vancouver called the South Terminal. A shuttle bus service runs frequently between Vancouver Main Terminal and the South Terminal.
