Philip Christopher: Cyprus needs more “ktistes!”

[Philip Christopher has many things in common with George “GP” Paraskevaides. As pioneer in the cell-phone industry, he shares a powerful entrepreneurial spirit with the latter, but it is their passion for justice or Cyprus that truly united GP the builder with Christopher, the founder of PSEKA and the Pancyprian Association of America.] The following words were penned by Christopher in honor of his friend. Philip Christopher, Ego Eime Ktistis! I am a builder! founder and president of PSEKA and the These three simple words were the only introduction George Paraskevaides needed to initiate a Pancyprian conversation or a deep discussion with the most famous people in the world. Association of America, shared a In 1945 during World War II, Winston Churchill landed in Cyprus to request an extension of the passion for justice for airport so the British bombers could land. In 48 hours, George Paraskevaides and his crew Cyprus with builder working around the clock, extended the airport. Winston Churchill then made his famous promise George Paraskevaides. to unite Cyprus with Greece.

In 1978 after the tragic Turkish invasion, George Paraskevaides utilized the same introduction in a meeting with President Carter to plead for removal of the Turkish occupation forces from Cyprus. A multitalented individual with a deep love for Hellenism, he championed Hellenic values and ideals and was tireless in pursuit for human rights and freedom for Cyprus.

Many people are successful, but few for the right reason. He built the seventh largest construction company in the world so he could help Hellenism and his beloved Cyprus.

With Mikis Theodosiou always at his side, he became a one-man foreign policy team for Cyprus, visiting Congressmen and Senators and offering generous hospitality to all who were friends of Greece and Cyprus.

He will always be remembered as a friend of our community who refused to compromise Hellenic values and ideals for the sake of expediency!
