BLUE JACKETS NOTES OFF TO A QUICK START The Blue Jackets opened the 2017-18 season splitting their games on consecutive nights against the Islanders and at the Blackhawks on Oct. 6-7. Since the game in Chicago, Columbus has won five of its last seven contests. The Jackets are averaging 4.17 goals per game in their six victories. The 6-3-0 record and 12 points is tied for the best start in club history (2009-10 and 2010-11). Sergei Bobrovsky has stopped 199-of-213 shots to start the season while fellow Russian Artemi Panarin is pacing the team with ten points (1- 9-10).

MONTH OF OCTOBER The Jackets are 6-3-0 in the month of October. With three games left in the month to play, the six victories is tied for the second-most in the month in club history (Oct. 2009 and Oct. 2010) and the 12 points is tied for the third-most (Oct. 2010), behind a 6-5-1 record in Oct. 2009 and a franchise-best 7-3-1 in Oct. 2007.

WENNBERG HITS 100 Alexander Wennberg recorded his 100th career assist against the Sabres on Wednesday. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, he has collected 52 assists, 17th-T in the NHL. With seven points through the first nine games of the season (1-6-7), the Stockholm, Sweden native is on pace to break his previous career high of 59 points.

TORTS HITS 1,100 Columbus head coach John Tortorella coached in his 1,100th game for his NHL head coaching career on October 19 vs. Tampa. He is the 21st head coach in league history and the seventh active coach to reach the milestone, joining Joel Quenneville, Ken Hitchcock, Barry Trotz, Paul Maurice, Alain Vigneault and Mike Babcock. The reigning Jack Adams Trophy winner is 536-435-131 in 1,102 career games.

WELCOME BREADMAN Panarin has made his presence felt early on with the Blue Jackets, scoring a goal and adding nine assists through nine games this season with two three-assist outings. Panarin became the first player in Jackets franchise history to record three points in his club debut on October 6 against the Islanders.
