Historical Background: Scott Street, laid out in the late 18th century, was named after the designer, Christopher Scott, a builder, merchant and twice Mayor of Hull, in 1763 and 1776.

Custodial history: Records passed by Allen Ticehurt, solicitors of East Grinstead, West Sussex in April 2006 to Hull City Council's Information Governance team, which had been established in 2004. Transferred to the History Centre in May 2006.
