Different terranes can be defined and characterized by their dominant geological background. The Pontides domain represents a segment of the former active margin of Eurasia, where back-arc basins opened in the Triassic and separated the Sakarya terrane from neighbouring regions. Sakarya was re-accreted to Laurasia through the Balkanic mid-Cretaceous orogenic event that also affected the Rhodope and Strandja zones. The whole region from the Balkans to the Caucasus was then affected by a reversal of subduction and creation of a Late Cretaceous arc before collision with the Anatolian domain in the Eocene. If the Anatolian terrane underwent an evolution similar to Sakarya during the Late Paleozoic and Early Triassic times, both terranes had a diverging history during and after the Eo-Cimmerian collision. -

For this orchards, purpose 250 gardens from the seven districts of the region were determined and soil and leaf Boron, samples were collected. In order to determine soil and leaf B status and relations among these Isparta some soil properties were determined. Similarly, other leaf nutrient concentrations were analyzed. According to the soil analysis it was seen that most of the soils are B‐sufficient. If soil B concentrations were evaluated depending on the district, the lowest soil B (0.26 mg kg‐1) was measured from the gardens of Senirkent, the highest B concentration (3.44 mg kg‐1) was determined in Atabey. Looking at the individual districts, all apple orchards in Gönen and Keçiborlu have sufficient (0.5‐2 mg kg‐1) soil B. -

Onsekizmart University, Canakkale, Turkiye e-mail: [email protected] 2Department of Freshwater Biology, Fisheries Faculty, Mugla University, 48100, Mugla, Turkiye e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Turkey has, with geographic location including Istanbul and Çanakkale straits the system, 178,000 km in length streams, 906,000 ha of natural lakes, and 411,800 ha of dam lakes, and 28,000 ha of ponds due to richness inland waters which include freshwater fish. The fingerling fish (fry) were restocked approximately 250,000,000 in natural lakes, dam lakes and ponds for fisheries between years of 1979 and 2005. Canakkale has rich freshwater potential with 7 major rivers (Büyükdere, Karamenderes stream, Kavak brook, Kocacay stream, Sarıcay stream, Tuzla brook, Umurbey brook), 7 Dam Lakes (Atikhisar, Zeytinlikoy, Bayramic, Bakacak, Tayfur, Umurbey and Yenice-Gönen Dam lakes). In the studies, it has been determined that 15 fish species belonging to 6 families (Anguillidae, Atherinidae, Salmonidae, Cobitidae, Cyprinidae and Poecilidae) can be found in reservoirs. Fish restocking of the activities of the reservoir until today approximately 1,120,000 (Cyprinus carpio L., 1758) is introduced. In this study, the activity of Canakkale province in the fish restocking and reservoir exploiting possibilities were discussed in view of reservoir fisheries potential which is used insufficiently today. Cad., No. 86, 06520 Söğütözü, Ankara, Turkey ABS TRACT The Eocene shallow marine deposits marking the first marine incursion in the Biga Peninsula (NW Turkey) after the collision of the Sakarya and Anatolide-Tauride plates were investigated based on paleontological, litho- and chrono-stratigraphic data. Larger Benthic Foraminifera (LBF) from patchily distributed outcrops were studied in order to i) revise the stratigraphy of Eocene shallow marine units, and ii) establish a modern biostratigraphic setting and a correlation scheme. The Şevketiye Formation (Fm.) is herein defined as a predominantly shallow marine clastic deposit with subordinate carbonates overlying the Çamlıca metamorphic rocks, and passing laterally to the Soğucak Fm., a carbonate unit that is widely represented in the Thrace Basin. The record of alveolinids, primitive developmental stages of heterosteginids, and orthophragminids in the Şevketiye Fm. suggests that this formation is part of the Shallow Benthic Zones (SBZ) 16?/17 (Late Lutetian?/Early Bartonian), SBZ17?/18 and SBZ19A (Early Bartonian/earliest Priabonian). -

However, these natural plants are used seldom for landscape or economic purposes. In this context, ground cover plants are often inconspicuous elements of a landscape plantation design because of their functional and aesthetics avantages. Although natural ground cover plants are very important, knowledges on the subject are unsufficient. In this study, potantial natural ground cover plants were determined in survey studies from the Lakes Region for the first time. The study was carried out among 2000 and 2004 years from different habitats in mountains of the region. By our observations in the study, concept of “ground cover plant” was defined newly. Collected and identified plants according to general flora books by the authors are hold in Herbarium GUL of Süleyman Demirel University. According to our field observations, botanical and ecological characteristics of the plants were determined for ground covering. A list of these plants was listed alphabetically. According to the results, totally 175 taxa belonging to 79 genera and 28 families were determined. 44 of them are belonging to Fabaceae family. -

The southern Marmara region is characterized by the middle and the southern branches while the northern branch controls the north Marmara region. The south Marmara region is characterized by approximately E–W trending rhomb-like horst and graben complexes bounded by strike slip-faults with normal component, striking mainly in E–W direction. This study documents the geometry and the structural characteristics of the NAFZ in the southeast Marmara region and discusses the commencement age of the strike–slip tectonics using deformation patterns of Neogene units and information available in the literature. q 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. Stratigraphy of Karaburun Peninsula

Bull., III, 1-20, 1990 STRATIGRAPHY OF KARABURUN PENINSULA Burhan ERDOĞAN*; Demir ALTINER**; Talip GÜNGÖR* and Sacit ÖZER* ABSTRACT. — In the Karaburun peninsula, a tectonic bell with a thick Mesozoic succession is located bordering the Izmir-Ankara zone on its western side. In the stratigrapnic column of the Karaburun belt, the oldest unit is the Lower and Middle Carboniferous Alandere forma tion consisting dominantly of fossiliferous limestones. Lower Triassic rocks rest directly above this unit and Upper Carboniferous and Per- mian sections are missing. The Lower Triassic is represented by rock units showing facies changes in short distances along vertical and hori- zontal directions. In this part of the section, the Karareis and Gerence formations are differentiated which are collectively named as the Denizgiren group. The Karareis formation is composed of intercalations of sandstones, bedded-black cherts, pelagic limestones and mafic volcanics, whereas the Gerence formation composed dominantly of ammonitic red limestones, thinly-bedded gray limestones and chcrty limestones. The Karareis and Gerence formations grade laterally into each other and range in age from Scythian to Late Anisian. The Cami- boğazı formation resting with a gradational contact on each of these units, consists of massive limestones with reefal facies in places and yields an age of Ladinian-Camian. The Güvercinlik formation lies conformably above the Camiboğazı formation, and consists of algal stromatolites, megalodon-bearing limestones and quartzitic sandstone intervals. This unit ranges in age from Norian-Rheatian. The Nohuta- lan formation which is dominantly represented by thick-bedded ncritic limestones, overlies the Güvercinlik formation gradationally and yields an age ranging from Liassic to Albian.
