Signature:……………………………………… 3 Summary Due to their characteristic themes (such as „perverse‟ desire and monstrosity) and form (incoherence and excess), exploitation films are often celebrated as inherently subversive or transgressive. I critically assess such claims through a close reading of the films of the Spanish „sex and horror‟ specialist Jess Franco. My textual and contextual analysis shows that Franco‟s films are shaped by inter-relationships between authorship, international genre codes and the economic and ideological conditions of exploitation cinema. Within these conditions, Franco‟s treatment of „aberrant‟ and gothic desiring subjectivities appears contradictory. Contestation and critique can, for example, be found in Franco‟s portrayal of emasculated male characters, and his female vampires may offer opportunities for resistant appropriation.

    1 COMUNICATO STAMPA ENAC – ASSAEROPORTI Il 21 GIUGNO EVENTI E CONCERTI IN 16 AEROPORTI ITALIANI ENAC, ASSAEROPORTI E I GESTORI AEROPORTUALI ADERISCONO ALLA FESTA DELLA MUSICA 2019 Per la terza edizione consecutiva, l’Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile, Assaeroporti e le società di gestione aeroportuale italiane aderiscono alla Festa della Musica, evento internazionale promosso nel nostro Paese dal Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali, dall’Associazione Italiana per la Promozione della Festa della Musica, dalla Rappresentanza in Italia della Commissione europea e dalla SIAE, in collaborazione con molti altri enti e associazioni culturali. Il prossimo 21 giugno, sedici aeroporti italiani proporranno numerose esibizioni musicali di diverso genere rivolte ai passeggeri e alle comunità aeroportuali, con repertori che spazieranno dall'opera lirica al jazz, dal pop al rock, dalla musica barocca al country, alla musica popolare. Artisti di fama nazionale e internazionale prenderanno parte all’iniziativa che coinvolgerà anche prestigiosi teatri lirici, accademie, associazioni, istituti musicali e conservatori italiani. All’iniziativa hanno aderito 16 aeroporti, ovvero gli scali di: Alghero Cagliari Palermo Torino Bari Milano Malpensa Perugia Trapani Bergamo Napoli Pisa Trieste Bologna Olbia Roma Fiumicino Venezia “Celebrare la musica e i musicisti – ha dichiarato il Direttore Generale dell’ENAC Alessio Quaranta - in luoghi di aggregazione come gli aeroporti, dove persone, culture e idee si intersecano e interagiscono è naturale e simbolico proprio per lo spirito di contaminazione intrinseco nella musica, come nel viaggio aereo. In vari aeroporti nazionali è oramai consuetudine sia lasciare strumenti musicali a disposizione dei passeggeri che vogliano suonarli, sia ospitare concerti e altre manifestazioni artistiche in una strategia dell’accoglienza e dell’interazione tra arte, lavoratori aeroportuali e passeggeri.

    1 Introduction “Il teatro significa vivere sul serio quello che gli altri nella vita recitano male.”1 Many years ago a young boy sat with his friend, the son of a lawyer, in the Corte Minorile of Naples, watching as petty criminals about his age were being judged for their offenses. One ragged pick-pocket who had been found guilty demanded to be led away after being sentenced; instead he was left there and his loud pleas were completely disregarded. Unwilling to tolerate this final offense of being treated as though he were invisible, the juvenile delinquent, in an extreme act of rebellion, began smashing the chains around his hands against his own head until his face was a mask of blood. Horrified, the judge finally ordered everybody out of the court. That young boy sitting in court watching the gruesome scene was Eduardo De Filippo and the sense of helplessness and social injustice witnessed left an indelible mark on the impressionable mind of the future playwright. ISRAEL, ESQ. (End of Justice: nessuno è innocente) di Dan Gilroy con Denzel Washington, Colin Farrell - USA 2017, 122’ (Warner Bros Entert.) – 21 aprile La carriera di Roman J. Israel, un determinato avvocato difensore interpretato da Denzel Washington, è stata caratterizzata da un tenace attivismo: la sua vita viene stravolta quando una serie di inaspettati eventi si scontrano con i suoi ideali. Colin Farrell affianca il protagonista nel ruolo di un ricco e ambizioso avvocato che assume Roman nel suo studio legale. • ARMANDO TROVAJOLI, LA MUSICA TRA TEATRO E CINEMA. Cine-concerto con Rita Marcotulli al pianoforte, Peppe Servillo alla voce, Luciano Biondini alla fisarmonica, Daniele Tittarelli al sax, Ares Tavolazzi al contrabbasso, Alessandro Paternesi alla batteria, Enrico Rava alla tromba. Una produzione originale del Festival Creuza de Mà – Musica per Cinema, ideata da Gianfranco Cabiddu, con la direzione musicale di Rita Marcotulli. Evento speciale introdotto da Pippo Baudo, grande amico e estimatore di Trovajoli. 22 aprile Oltre ai film, il programma serale del Teatro Petruzzelli prevede il 22 aprile un evento speciale: un cine-concerto di 90’ in ricordo del grande Maestro nel centenario della nascita, con proiezione di immagini dai suoi film e le sue musiche e le sue canzoni, trascritte e arrangiate in una veste nuova, e affidate all’esecuzione di grandi musicisti, in omaggio alla passione di Trovajoli per il jazz che fra l’altro curò le musiche di quasi tutti i film diretti da Ettore Scola, presidente onorario del Bif&st e presidente effettivo fino alla sua scomparsa.
