I-35 from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45 North CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION Project Overview The I-35 from Grand Avenue Parkway to SH 45 North project addresses safety and mobility in Travis County by reconfiguring the northbound entrance and exit ramps. Lack of mobility on I-35 threatens the economic livelihood of Texas. With more than 177,000 vehicles traveling on this segment of I-35 each day, this project will improve mobility, safety and connectivity for all modes of transportation along I-35. Work includes reversing ramps along northbound I-35 between Grand Avenue Parkway and SH 45 North, constructing an extended entrance/exit lane on the northbound I-35 mainlanes under SH 45 North and along the frontage road, installing high-mast lighting and improvements at Picadilly Drive and the I-35 frontage road. Construction Phases Work on this improvement project will take place in three phases: • Phase I work includes setting up the work zone and beginning drainage work on the northbound I-35 frontage road. • Phase II work includes constructing the new northbound I-35 entrance and exit ramps and closing the existing ramps, constructing frontage road improvements and installing high- mast lighting. • Phase III work includes widening the intersection at Picadilly Drive, and final paving and striping. Details The construction cost for the 2-mile project is $8.2 million. Construction is funded by Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and TxDOT. Construction start is August 2020 and is expected to be complete in mid-2021, weather permitting. The contractor is Jordan Foster Construction.
