A most attractive traditional Pembrokeshire Cottage, owned by the same family for 150 years, which has been lovingly restored and extended to retain all of its original character, whilst benefiting from modern conveniences. Set in a rural hamlet, about a mile from the coast as the crow flies, it is 2.5 miles by road from Beach, and 5 miles from the Blue Flag beach at Whitesands.

The cottage dates back to the early 18th Century, and sadly fell into dilapidation, before its restoration which was completed in 2002. It would make a perfect holiday home for anyone who loves the north coast of Pembrokeshire and its heritage.

The Owner Says... Unique, authentic, quirky and characterful, Ty To (‘Thatched House’) is a peaceful, cosy haven that ‘wraps its arms around you’. It will make a very special home or an eminently marketable asset in which many can enjoy a stay.

‘Rescued from ruin, it has been lovingly restored with visible rope underthatch, lime and new insulated ‘tin’ extensions that make it a lesson in the Welsh vernacular.’ Dr Greg Stevenson

'Overall winner of the National Park Award 2003 for its outstanding contribution to preserving the character of the built environment of the National Park.’ Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

The cottage sits adjacent to Tretio common, with space beside it to park a couple of cars.

Behind the cottage stands a separate outbuilding, which has been fitted out as an office with its own wc, and power, light and phone line connected. There is an adjacent workshop/tool shed.

Of particular interest, the rope underthatch is a rare feature, once common in coastal Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Orkney. The restoration won a National Park award in 2003. The owner and his family lived there for a number of years, and subsequently rented it out as a holiday let with underthethatch.co.uk
