Chandigarh July 2:-Chandigarh Administration has invited nominations for Indira Awards for National Integration- 2006. The nominations are to be sent to the Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh for associations, institutions or organizations having a legal status and registered in . Only one individual or one association institution or organization may be proposed by a proposer. A proposal by a person or organization recommending himself or itself will not be entertained. The Award will be given to an individual or organization for his/its activities in the specified years in the cause of promoting national integration and sense of national solidarity. The award was instituted to give recognition to outstanding contribution to this cause by distinguished individuals or institutions. The award carries a citation and cash Award of Rs. 1.51 1akhs. The Award has so far been given to Sawami Ranganathananda, Mrs. Aruna , Bharat Scouts & Guides, Mr. P.N. Haksar, Mrs. M.S. Subbulakshmi, Mr. (Posthumous), Paramdham Ashram, Acharya Shree Tulsi Ji, Dr. Bishambar Nath Pande, Sardar (Posthumous), Mr. , Gandhi Institute of Public Affairs, Centre for National Integration (Shanti Niketan), Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Mr. (Posthumous), Prof. , Mr. H.Y.Sharda Prasad, Ram-Rahim Nagar Slum Dwellers Association, Belrampura, Ahmedabad, Aaman Pathik-Peace Volunteer Group, Ahmedabad, Mr. Ram Singh Solanki & Mr. Sunil Tamaiche (Jointly), Acharya Mahaprajna, Mr. Shyam Benegal, Mrs. and Mr.Javed Akhtar. The Award for the year 2006 would be for recognition to outstanding contribution to the cause of national integration either by distinguished individuals or associations etc. in the year 2006 and two years immediately preceding it. The award will be announced on or before 2nd October 2007.
