Vierter Nachtrag, Ergänzungen zur Verbreitung, Biologie und Phänologie seit 2013 Mit 28 Figuren und 27 Tabellen Arnold Richert 1 Altenhofer Straße 68, 16227 Eberswalde Published on 2018–12–06 DOI:10.21248/contrib.entomol.68.2.177-346 Zusammenfassung Die Entwicklung der Großschmetterlingsfauna der Diluviallandschaften um Eberswalde wurde bis zum Jahre 2018 unter Berücksichtigung folgender Schwerpunkte fortgeschrieben: (1) Veränderungen im Artenbestand: Vier Arten wurden neu nachgewiesen; acht als verschollen gemeldete Arten wurden wieder entdeckt, darunter als besonders bemerkenwerte Wiederfunde die Noctuide Eremobia ochroleuca nach >60 Jahren und die Geometride Eustroma reticulata nach 33 Jahren; neun Arten des bisherigen Bestandes werden als verschollen gemeldet. (2) Ergänzungen zur Kenntnis der Biologie, insbesondere der Nahrungsökologie der Tagfalter, sowie der aktuellen Veränderungen der Phänologie. (3) Auswertung älterer Quellen, die dem Verfasser bisher nicht bekannt waren; dadurch konnte das Gesamtbild der Großschmetterlingsfauna abgerundet werden. (4) Abschließende Analyse des Durchforschungrades der einzelnen Naturräume des Gebietes. Schlüsselwörter Tagfalter, Nachtfalter, Phänologie, Ökologie, Zeitreihen, Langzeituntersuchung, Artenzusammensetzung, Naturschutz, Brandenburg Abstract The changes in the fauna of macrolepidoptera of the diluvial landscapes around Eberswalde was described until the year 2018 considering the following major aspects: (1) Changes in species composition: Four species were newly recorded; eight species thought to have disappeared were rediscovered, with two particularly remarkable findings, the Nolidae Eremobia ochroleuca after >60 years of absence and the Geometridae Eustroma reticulata after 33 years; eight of the species known for the region could not be confirmed by newer records. (2) Additions are given to the knowledge of the biology, especially of the nutrition ecology of butterflies, as well as recent changes in the phylogeny. (3) Examina- tion of older sources, which have not been known by the author before; these allowed completing the overall picture of the macrolepidoptera. (4) Supplementary information on the level of knowledge on the different sub-regions is given. The list comprises 116 species of Noctuidae (26.4% of the Polish fauna), 116 species of Geometridae (28.4% of the Polish fauna) and 63 species of other Macrolepidoptera representatives (27.9% of the Polish fauna). The remaining 123 species were represented by Microlepidoptera. Nearly 10% of the species were associated with wetland habitats, what constitutes a surprisingly large proportion in such an urbanised area. Comparing the obtained data with previous studies concerning Polish urban fauna of Lepidoptera, the moths assemblages in the Botanical Garden were the most similar to the one from the Natolin Forest Reserve which protects the legacy of Mazovian forests. Several recorded moths appertain to locally and rarely encountered species, as Stegania cararia, Melanthia procellata, Pasiphila chloerata, Eupithecia haworthiata, Horisme corticata, Xylomoia graminea, Polychrysia moneta. In the light of the conducted studies, the Botanical Garden in Lublin stands out as quite high biodiversity and can be regarded as a refuge for moths within the urban limits of Lublin.

    Chapter 8 Molecular Basis of Pheromonogenesis Regulation in Moths J. Joe Hull and Adrien Fónagy Abstract Sexual communication among the vast majority of moths typically involves the synthesis and release of species-specifc, multicomponent blends of sex pheromones (types of insect semiochemicals) by females. These compounds are then interpreted by conspecifc males as olfactory cues regarding female reproduc- tive readiness and assist in pinpointing the spatial location of emitting females. Studies by multiple groups using different model systems have shown that most sex pheromones are synthesized de novo from acetyl-CoA by functionally specialized cells that comprise the pheromone gland. Although signifcant progress was made in identifying pheromone components and elucidating their biosynthetic pathways, it wasn’t until the advent of modern molecular approaches and the increased avail- ability of genetic resources that a more complete understanding of the molecular basis underlying pheromonogenesis was developed. Pheromonogenesis is regulated by a neuropeptide termed Pheromone Biosynthesis Activating Neuropeptide (PBAN) that acts on a G protein-coupled receptor expressed at the surface of phero- mone gland cells. Activation of the PBAN receptor (PBANR) triggers a signal trans- duction cascade that utilizes an infux of extracellular Ca2+ to drive the concerted action of multiple enzymatic steps (i.e. chain-shortening, desaturation, and fatty acyl reduction) that generate the multicomponent pheromone blends specifc to each species. In this chapter, we provide a brief overview of moth sex pheromones before expanding on the molecular mechanisms regulating pheromonogenesis, and con- clude by highlighting recent developments in the literature that disrupt/exploit this critical pathway. Later, five species of Micardia (M. munda Leech, 1900, M. quqdrilinea Scriba, 1921, M. pulchrargentea Bryk, 1942, M. subobscura Berio, 1973 and M. simplicissima Berio, 1973) were described from China, Japan, Russia (Kurile Isl.) and Myanmar (Leech 1900; Scriba 1921; Bryk 1942; Berio 1973). Among them, M. pulchrargentea Bryk, 1942 was synonymised with M. pulchra (Kononenko 1987, 2005) and the status of M. quadrilinea remained incertain. Berio (1954) and Viette (1982) described four species of Micardia from Madagascar, however their systematic position requires clarification. So far, eleven species of the genus Micardia reported by Poole (1989), including M. pulchrargentea as full species, but missing M. subobscura.

Die Ergebnisse der Reisen werden dargestellt. Kommentiert werden besonders die Arten, zu deren Verbreitung, Abundanz und Bionomie erweiterte Erkenntnisse erzielt wurden. Bisher unbekannte oder nicht fotografisch abgebildete Raupen werden dargestellt und kurz beschrieben:Conistra ragusae macedo- nica, Lithophane merckii, Griposia pinkeri, Griposia wegneri. Neu für die Fauna Griechenlands wurden Agrochola luteogrisea, Conistra iana, Lithophane furcifera und Lithophane leautieri festgestellt. Abstract: In the years 2002 to 2006, further five trips to Northern Greece took place with the purpose to document the Noc- tuidae fauna: Four trips in autumn, one trip in spring time. The results of these trips are illustrated. Especially commented are those species to whose spread, abundance and bionomics enhanced findings were achieved. Caterpillars unknown or not photo-optically pictured so far are shown and briefly described:Conistra ragusae macedonica, Lithophane merckii, Griposia pinkeri, Griposia wegneri. Newly discovered in the fauna of Greece are Agrochola luteogrisea, Conistra iana, Lithophane furcifera and Lithophane leautieri. Einleitung In Fortsetzung der Reisen 1998 – 2001 (WEGNER 2002) wurden 2002 – 2006 fünf weitere Reisen zur Erfassung der Noctuidenfauna Nord-Griechenlands durchgeführt. Die Untersuchungen fanden schwerpunktmäßig in der Provinz Epirus im Bergland von Zagori, in der Provinz Dytiki Makedonia in der Umgebung von Kosani und in der Provinz Anatoliki Makedonia (Thrakien) im Hügelland der Umgebung von Alexandroupoli statt.

    The Pyrenees A Greentours Holiday for the Alpine Garden Society 10th to 23rd June 2011 Led by Paul Cardy Trip Report and Systematic Lists by Paul Cardy Day 1 Friday 10 th June Arrival and Transfer to Formigueres Having driven from the south western Alps and reached Carcassonne the previous evening, I continued to Toulouse to meet the group at the airport. I was unexpectedly delayed by French customs who stopped me at the toll booth entering the city. There followed a lengthy questioning, as I had to unpack the contents of my suspiciously empty Italian mini-bus and show them my two large boxes of books, suitcase full of clothes, picnic supplies, etc., to convince them my purpose was a botanical tour to the Pyrenees. Now a little late I arrived breathlessly at Toulouse airport and rushed to the gate to meet Margaret, and the New Zealand contingent of Chris, Monica, Archie and Lynsie, hurriedly explaining the delay. Anyway we were soon back on the motorway and heading south towards Foix. White Storks in a field on route was a surprise. We made a picnic stop at a functional aire where there were tables, and a selection of weedy plants. Black Kite soared overhead. Once past Foix and Ax-les- Thermes the scenery became ever more interesting as we wound our way up to a misty Col de Puymorens. There a short stop yielded Pulsatilla vernalis in fruit and Trumpet Gentians. Roadside cliffs had Rock Soapwort, Saxifraga paniculata , and Elder-flowered Orchids became numerous. Now in the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes, a fascinating route down into the valley took us through Saillagouse and Mont-Louis before heading up a minor road to the village of Formigueres, our base for the first three nights.

Attraktive und bunte Schmetterlingsarten sind selbst in den Tropen besser erforscht als die mitteleuropäischen Blütenspanner. Unscheinbare Nachtschmetterlinge hingegen, wurden sicherlich auch früher wegen der Determinationsprobleme nicht von allen Entomologen rich­ tig und vollständig erfasst. Bei den Blütenspannern kommt noch erschwerend hinzu, dass selbst soeben geschlüpfte Ima­ gines oft schwer zu determinieren sind, von stark abgeflogenen ganz zu schweigen. Sie be­ reiten auch erfahrenen Spezialisten so manches Problem. Vielfach hilft dann nur noch die Ge­ nitalanalyse. So werden auch heute noch beim Beobachten von Nachtschmetterlingen die Blüter spanner meist vernachlässigt. In vielen Fundortkarteien und Faunenverzeichnissen feh­ len dann die Arten, die nicht sicher angesprochen wurden. Oder, was viel schlimmer ist, Da­ ten von Fehlbestimmungen wandern in die Kartei und verbleiben dort. Oftmals fehlt der dazu­ gehörige Falter in der Sammlung, weil er für diese nicht schön genug war. Wer will dann später beurteilen können, ob dieser Fund echt war? Bei manchem Beobachter ist es nicht Stand der Arbeitstechnik, Genitaldiagnosen durchzuführen. Auch fehlen häufig Daten von Imagines, weil bestimmte Arten nur selten oder gar nicht am Licht erscheinen, obwohl sie Vorkommen.

The first involves servicing a national network of recorders which was set up in the winter of 1990/91 to trawl information on the current national distribution, status and conservation requirements of the rarer species of macro-moths in Britain. The information collected is being used to organise surveys and produce national surveys and produce national distribution maps, data sheets and a bibliography for the rarer moths. The rarer macro-moths have been defined as those species believed to occur in less than one hundred of the 10 km squares in Britain. Approximately 280 of the 730 or more macro-moth species that breed in Britain are in this category now. The collected information is used by the government conservation agencies to identify important breeding sites and advise on their management. Since its inception in 1987 the Moth Conservation Project has also been involved in devising and assisting practical conservation measures for a number of rare moths including six species of moths which receive legal protection in Britain and are listed on Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and 1988 amendment. These six are Zygaena viciae argyllensis Tremewan, Thetidia smaragdaria maritima Prout, Pareulype berberata Denis & Schiffer- müller, Siona lineata Scopoli, Acosmetia caliginosa Hübner and Hadena irregularis Hufnagel.

As the species know no borders, between the quarry and the surroundings exists connective "green channels”. This channels are used by key species for supply and energy exchange between the quarry and the surroundings. In order to be sustainable a quarry management needs to maintain this connections at optimal levels. Therefore, there are three steps to follow: 1. An inventory of the key species present at the quarry level and in the surroundings. 2. The conservation status assessment of the key species.3. Adopting a set of measures in order to increase the conservation status of the identified key species. Following this three steps will bring a real visibility over the quarry ecosystem functioning in connection with natural habitats. Therefore we have identified 71 mushroom species, 3 lichens species, 3 moss species, 3 fern species, 77 superior plant species, 24 day butterfly species, 32 night butterfly species, 72 other invertebrate species, 7 amphibian species, 5 reptile species, 29 bird species (6 day raptors, 2 night raptors, 20 other species), 9 large mammal species, 4 small insectivore mammal species, 7 small rodent mammal species, 9 bat species.
