The Honorable Alvin Hamilton

The Honorable Alvin Hamilton was born in Kenora, Ontario, on March 30, 1912. He attended public school in Kenora, high school in Delisle, Saskatchewan, Normal School in Saskatoon and taught school there from 1931 to 1934. He received his BA from the University of Saskatchewan in 1937, with an honors in history and economics in 1938. On November 14, 1936, he married the late Constance Beulah Florence, daughter of the late William John Major, and has two sons. His political canditure has included Rosetown-Biggar, 1945 and 1949; Rosetown 1948; Lumsden 1952; Qu'Appelle 1953; and he was the provincial candidate for Saskatoon in 1956. He was first elected to the House of Commons for Qu'Appelle in June 1957, appointed Minister of Northern Affairs and National Resources in August 1957, and served as Minister of Agriculture from October 1960 to April 1963. He was a candidate for in June 1968, and elected for Qu'Appelle-Moose Mountain in October 1972, retiring in 1988. Since then he has been provincial organizer and provincial leader for the Conservative Party in Saskatchewan. He served with the RCAF in WWII, and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the RCAF association.

Mrs. Alice Jenner

Mrs. Jenner has a B.Sc.(H.E.) from the University of Manitoba; is a graduate of the United Church Training School (Convenant College), University of Toronto; served a dietetic internship at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto; and is a graduate of the Language School (Chinese Language) at the University of West . She holds a diploma in nutrition from the School of Hygiene at the University of Toronto. Mrs. Jenner's work experience has included teaching home economics and dietetics in Chengtu, Szechwan, West China on a specialty basis in Chinese in junior and senior middle schools, a teachers' college, schools of nursing and in the faculties of medicine and dentistry at the University of West China for four years. She has been a director of dietetics with University Hospitals in Chengtu, Szechwan; and developed a diet manual for the hospitals. Mrs. Jenner has also worked toward the eventual establishment of a faculty of home economics at the University of West China. She served as a nutrition consultant to, and subsequently became director of the Nutrition Division for the Department of Public Health in Saskatchewan from 1963- 1977. Mrs. Jenner has also written Food: Fact and Folklore, published by McClelland and Stewart; as well as a number of position papers for varius health associations and home economics associations. She was a consultant nutritionist to the Saskatchewan Pulse Crop Growers' Association from 1981 - 1983; developed information sheets for distribution to the public and professionals; tested domestic and quantity recipes and recorded them. She is a member of the Nutrition Society of Canada; is a past president of the Regina Home Economics Association; a past secretary to the Saskatchewan Branch of the Canadian Home Economics Associations and the Canadian Womens Press Club, Regina Branch; past member of the home economics curriculum committee, Department of Education; and was a representative of the Dominion-Provincial Nutrition Committee to the Canadian Council on Nutrition for two years Other service activity has involved Mrs. Jenner with the Saskatchewan Branch Canadian Public Health Association; the Canadian Home Economics Association to the Canadian Hunger Foundation; SDA's Nutrition Committee, Nutrition Canada 1970-1971; CPHA; the Saskatchewan Dietetic Association and the Saskatchewan Home Economics Association.

Mr. William Francis Ready, Q.C.

Mr. Ready attended elementary school in Valparaiso, Sask., secondary school in Tisdale, Sask., and the University of Saskatchewan (Bachelor of Arts - 1948, Bachelor of Laws in 1950). He is a senior partner with the law firm of McDougall, Ready; a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, and was admitted to the Bar of Saskatchewan in 1951. He has been a Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan (1967-1973), and was chairman of the discipline committee for two years. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and was president of the Saskatchewan Branch, 1979-1980. Mr. Ready is past president of the Regina Bar Association, and is a lecturer to the Law Society Bar Admission Course.

He is a director of RoyFund Equity Ltd, a trustee of RoyFund Bond Fund, and a trustee of RoyFund Money Market Fund; director of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association; a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Regina; and is director of numerous private corporations. Mr. Ready is past president of the Regina Symphony and the Douglas Park Home & School Association; was a trustee of the Board of Education of Regina for 11 years; is a member of Senate, University of Saskatchewan; was chairman, Regina Committee of the University of Saskatchewan 75th Anniversary Celebration; and has organized fund- raising for the Salvation Army from the legal profession. His memberships include Lakeview United Church; Gyro Club of Regina, Wascana Country Club, the Assiniboia Club, Regina Lodge 211 (Masonic), and the Council for Canadian Unity. Mr. Ready was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1967. He was married in 1952 and has 5 children.
