Munis Entomology & Zoology, 7 (2): 732-741] ABSTRACT: On the basis of lepidopterous larvae a total of 96 species on Quercus dalechampii and 58 species on Q. cerris were recorded in 10 study plots of Malé Karpaty and Trnavská pahorkatina hills. The families Geometridae, Noctuidae and Tortricidae encompassed the highest number of found species. The most recorded species belonged to the trophic group of generalists. On the basis of total abundance of lepidopterous larvae found on Q. dalechampii from all the study plots the most abundant species was evidently Operophtera brumata. The most abundant species on Q. cerris was Cyclophora ruficiliaria. Based on estimated oak leaf area consumed by a larva it is shown that Lymantria dispar was the most important leaf-chewing species of both Q. dalechampii and Q. cerris. KEY WORDS: Slovakia, Quercus dalechampii, Q. cerris, the most important species. About 300 Lepidoptera species are known to damage the assimilation tissue of oaks in Central Europe (Patočka, 1954, 1980; Patočka et al.1999; Reiprich, 2001). Lepidoptera larvae are shown to be the most important group of oak defoliators (Patočka et al., 1962, 1999). -

The type material of 12 species of Bucculatrix Zeller, 1839 deposited in the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin is revised. B. imitatella Herrich-Schäffer, [1855], and B. jugicola Wocke, 1877, are sunk in synonymy of B. cristatella (Zeller, 1839). Two other synonyms have been established: B. alpina Frey, 1870 = B. leucanthemella Constant, 1895, syn. n.; B. infans Staudinger, 1880 = B. centaureae Deschka, 1973, syn. n. The male genitalia of the species are figured. Lectotypes have been designated for 5 species. Zusammenfassung. Es wird das Typenmaterial von 12 Arten der Gattung Bucculatrix Zeller, 1839 revidiert, die sich im Museum für Naturkunde Berlin befinden. Zwei Namen stellten sich als neue Synonyme heraus: B. imitatella Herrich-Schäffer, [1855], syn. n. und B. jugicola Wocke, 1877, syn. n. von B. cristatella (Zeller, 1839). INTRODUCTION Early tortricid workers such as HAWORTH (1811), HERRICH-SCHHÄFFER (1856), and others pre- sented the first terminology for forewing pattern elements in their descriptions of new species. Nearly a century later, SÜFFERT (1929) provided a more eclectic discussion of pattern elements for Lepidoptera in general. In recent decades, the common and repeated use of specific terms in de- scriptions and illustrations by FALKOVITSH (1966), DANILEVSKY and KUZNETZOV (1968), and oth- ers reinforced these terms in Tortricidae. BRADLEY et al. (1973) summarized and commented on all the English terms used to describe forewing pattern elements. DANILEVSKY and KUZNETZOV (1968) and KUZNETZOV (1978) analyzed tortricid pattern elements, primarily Olethreutinae, dem- onstrating the taxonomic significance of the costal strigulae in that subfamily. For practical pur- poses they numbered the strigulae from the forewing apex to the base, where the strigulae often become indistinct. KUZNETZOV (1978) named the following forewing elements in Tortricinae: ba- sal fascia, subterminal fascia, outer fascia (comprised of subapical blotch and outer blotch), apical spot, and marginal line situated in the marginal fascia (a component of the ground colour). -

W. Brown & K. Nishida Abstract Acleris nishidai Brown, sp. n., is described and illustrated from the central cordillera of Costa Rica. The new species is assigned to Acleris Hübner, [1825] on the basis of the similarity of the male genitalia with other described species of the genus. The female genitalia are relatively modified and lack the pronounced lateral lobes of the sterigma characteristic of most Acleris. First Report of Bucculatrix Ulmifoliae (Lepidoptera, Bucculatricidae) from Iran

During a survey on the damaged elms in Almahdi, Shaghayegh, Taslihat and Magidiyeh parks in the summer of 2010, the larvae and pupae of a Bucculatrix species were collected. After emerging of the adult specimens, they were determined as Bucculatrix ulmifoliae M. Hering, 1931. As far as our knowledge, five Bucculatrix species are reported from Iran so far: Bucculatrix ulmella , 1848 which is reported on elm tree in Tehran region (1), B. pomifoliella Clemens, ?that is collected in Khorasan region on apple tree (7), and the three species namely B. iranica Deschka, 1981, B. endospiralis Deschka, 1981 and B. pectinella Deschka, 1981 which are collected from the south of Iran and introduced as new species by Deschka (1981) (2). This is the first report of Bucculatrix ulmifoliae from Iran. During recent years this species has caused extreme damages on the elm trees in some parts of Tehran. The genus Bucculatrix is cosmopolitan with more than 220 known species (3) mostly (about 180 species) distributed in the North American and Eurasia (6) B. ulmifoliae is widespread in all parts of Europe including The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italian mainlands, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, England, south and central parts of Russia, Sardinia, Sicily, Slovakia and Yugoslavia (4, 5). -

Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -

Uppsala, Sweden 2012. ISSN 0013-886x. The unicoloured species of the subgenus Blastotere in the family Argyresthiidae are re- viewed. Two new species, Argyresthia svenssoni sp.n. and A. kulfani sp.n., ,are described and compared with closely related species. The biology of A. svenssoni seems to be es- sentially identical with that of A. glabratella, and the two species have a similar distribu- tion pattern. However, when dissecting female specimens from north and south Sweden two different types emerged displaying totally different signa, which led to the conclusion that two good species were involved. Argyresthia svenssoni is so far recorded only from a few European countries, from Italy in the south to north of the Polar Circle in the north of Europe. Argyresthia tatrica Baraniak, Kulfan & Patočka, 2003, the description of which was based on material from Slovakia, is judged to be a junior synonym of A. illuminatella Zeller, 1839. The larva feeds on Larix decidua and possibly other species of Larix. The type material of A. -

Muus Erik J. van Nieukerken TREFWOORDEN Faunistiek, nieuwe waarneming, provincies, areaaluitbreidingen Entomologische Berichten 73 (3): 91-117 In de jaren 2007-2010 werden maar liefst elf soorten kleine vlinders nieuw voor onze fauna gevonden: Infurcitinea teriolella, Bucculatrix ulmifoliae, Caloptilia fidella, Phyllonorycter issikii, Coleophora motacillella, Cochylis molliculana, Cnephasia sedana, Clepsis dumicolana, Lobesia botrana, Pseudococcyx tessulatana en Evergestis aenealis. Daarnaast werden drie soorten al elders gemeld: Caloptilia hemidactylella, Cydalima perspectalis en Bucculatrix ainsliella. Na 30 jaar van jaarlijsten geven we een evaluatie, met onder andere een totaal van 128 nieuw gemelde soorten. Dit zijn er minder dan in Denemarken, maar meer dan op de Britse Eilanden of in Zweden. We verklaren deze verschillen door het verschil in oppervlak van de landen: hoe kleiner het land, hoe meer kans dat er nieuwe soorten gevonden worden. Dit jaaroverzicht is het laatste dat in deze vorm verschijnt. Dit is het negentiende jaaroverzicht van de Nederlandse Micro- die beoordeeld konden worden door specialisten.
