The objective will be achieved by the diversion of 170 MLD water from the Melamchi River via 26.5 km long tunnel system to a water system to a water treatment plant and distribution facilities to be constructed in the Kathmandu Valley. The project consists of the following four major components; namely; Infrastructure Development, Social and Environment Support, Institutional Reforms and Implementation. These major components are supplemented by management, social institutional activities including the Social Uplift Program (SUP) for the MDS works, Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), Environmental Management and Monitoring for all the components, and related support activities.
