I only knew about this author because my father had lent me a copy of And Be a Villain when I was in middle school, and I was so entranced by the novel that I went out to Barnes & Noble to buy as many as they had in stock. I quickly ran out of Stout books to read, because at the time, his books were out of print in America. I managed to get hold of most copies by high school, courtesy of a family friend’s mother who had died and passed on her collection of Stout novels to our family. Due to the relative difficulty I had had in acquiring these books in America, I was surprised to find one lying on a book stand in Moscow, so I bought it for less than 30 cents (which was probably around the original price of its first printing in America).

    2010-02-23 09:00 CET Mecki Mark Men + special support av GUDIBRALLAN För första gången sedan 9 juli 1971 spelar den legendariska upplagan av Mecki Mark Men tillsammans igen! Det gjordes hårda påtryckningar inför releaserna av Running In The Summernight och Marathon men det var inte förrän det blev dags för release av STENHÄSTEN (Stonehorse) som bandet enades att göra denna exklusiva spelning! Stonehorse var en beställning av Cullbergbaletten. Lars Johan Werles skrev musiken som sedan framfördes av Mecki Mark Men. På Hornstull Strand den 9 mars får vi inte bara njuta av Mecki Mark Men utan vi får även se filmatiseringen av Stonehorse där Dag Werle gjorde koreografi till faderns balett med originalmusiken av Mecki Mark Men. Mecki Mark Men fakta: 1967 gav MMM ut Sveriges första experimentella pop-skiva och värmde upp på Jimi Hendrix Sverigeturné samma år. 1968 tog Mecki Bodemark med sig namnet och klev in i superpsychedeliska trion Baby Grandmothers. Den nya och tyngre versionen av MMM fortsatte att värma upp på Jimi Hendrix olika korståg genom Sverige. 1969 gav MMM ut skivan Running In The Summer Night som klassas som Sveriges första hårdrockskiva. 1970 åkte MMM på USA-turné. I USA spelade de bl.a. med Sly & the Family Stone, Grand Funk Railroad, The Byrds, Pentangle samt Jethro Tull.1971 gjorde MMM musik till Lars Johan Werles balett Stonehorse.
