ALCALOIDES DE ANNONACEA: Ocorrência e compilação de suas atividades biológicas & Avaliação química e biológica de Anaxagorea dolichocarpa SPRAGUE & SANDWITH (Annonaceae). Tese (Doutorado em Produtos Naturais e Sintéticos Bioativos) – Instituto de Pesquisa em Fármacos e Medicamentos, Universidade Federal da Paraíba, João Pessoa, 2015. Este trabalho consta de quatro capítulos. O Capitulo 1 descreve uma revisão dos alcaloides relatados na literatura para a família Annonaceae e suas atividades biológicas. Foram relatados 934 alcaloides em publicações no período de 1929 a 2012. O Capítulo 2 trata do Isolamento e identificação de alcaloides da espécie da família Annonaceae, Anaxagorea dolichocarpa. Através de métodos cromatográficos e espectroscópicos foi possível isolar e identificar os alcaloides azafenantrenos: eupolauramina, sampangina e imbilina 1 já relatados para Anaxagorea dolichocarpa, sendo reportados para as raízes pela primeira vez, o alcaloide 3-metoxisampangina isolado pela primeira vez para Anaxagorea dolichocarpa e o alcaloide Imbilina 4, relatado pela primeira vez na literatura. O Capitulo 3 relata os estudos farmacológicos nas atividades antitumorais, antileishmania e imunomoduladora dos alcaloides isolados. O alcaloide imbilina 1 destacou-se por apresentar significativa atividade antitumoral e também foi efetiva na atividade imunomoduladora frente a inibição da produção de óxido nítrico. Para a atividade antileishmania, todas as substâncias apresentaram atividade, com destaque para a sampangina. O Capítulo 4 refere-se a um estudo teórico dos alcaloides aporfínicos relatados na revisão publicada dos alcaloides de Annonaceae e alcaloides azafenantrenos de Annonaceae. O estudo foi realizado por máquina de aprendizagem utilizando descritores moleculares e docking molecular para a atividade antileishmania. Palavras-chave: Annonaceae, alcaloides, Anaxagorea

    225 POTENCIAL INSETICIDA DE PLANTAS DA FAMÍLIA ANNONACEAE1 DIONES KRINSKI2,4, ANGÉLICA MASSAROLI3,4, MARILZA MACHADO5,6 RESUMO- A utilização de plantas para o controle de insetos tem aumentado em todo o mundo. Isto ocorre porque os inseticidas vegetais apresentam moléculas biodegradáveis, são menos tóxicos a mamíferos e potencialmente adequados para utilização no controle de pragas. As plantas da família Annonaceae estão ganhando destaque como biopesticidas por serem naturalmente bioativas, apresentando atividade citotóxica, antitumoral, vermicida, antimicrobiana, imunossupressora, antiemética, inibidora do apetite e crescimento, antimalárica e também inseticida. A atividade inseticida das anonáceas deve-se à presença de acetogeninas, substâncias que atuam nas mitocôndrias, inibindo a NADH – ubiquinona oxidorredutase, causando a morte dos insetos. Nesta revisão, relatamos a utilização de anonáceas no controle de insetos, mostrando que até o momento, apenas 42 espécies de anonáceas possuem informações de atividade inseticida contra pouco mais de 60 espécies de insetos-praga. Estas informações mostram que muita pesquisa ainda é necessária, principalmente para conhecer a atividade inseticida de outras espécies de anonáceas, além de seus efeitos sobre insetos-praga ainda não estudados. Assim, teremos como alternativa para o desenvolvimento sustentável, a utilização de novos inseticidas vegetais, como os obtidos das diferentes espécies de anonáceas, os quais podem atuar como mais uma ferramenta para equilibrar os exageros da agricultura química ou convencional. A family description based on Neotropical genera and a discussion of individual bark compo- nents are presented. Selected character states at the family and genus levels are sur- veyed for identification purposes. This is followed by a discussion on the taxonomical and phylogenetic relevance of bark characters according to a phylogram in preparation based on molecular characters. Although the value of many bark anatomical characters turned out to be insignificant in systematic studies of the family, some features lend support to recent phylogenetic results based on morphological and molecular data sets.     315 PLANTS OF THE ANNONACEAE TRADITIONALLY USED AS ANTIMALARIALS: A REVIEW1 GINA FRAUSIN2 , RENATA BRAGA SOUZA LIMA3, ARI DE FREITAS HIDALGO4, PAUL MAAS5, ADRIAN MARTIN POHLIT6 ABSTRACT- Species of the Annonaceae family are used all over the tropics in traditional medicine in tropical regions for the treatment of malaria and other illnesses. Phytochemical studies of this family have revealed chemical components which could offer new alternatives for the treatment and control of malaria. Searches in scientific reference sites (SciFinder Scholar, Scielo, PubMed, ScienceDirect and ISI Web of Science) and a bibliographic literature search for species of Annonaceae used traditionally to treat malaria and fever were carried out. This family contains 2,100 species in 123 genera. We encountered 113 articles reporting medicinal use of one or more species of this family including 63 species in 27 genera with uses as antimalarials and febrifuges. Even though the same species of Annonaceae are used by diverse ethnic groups, different plant parts are often chosen for applications, and diverse methods of preparation and treatment are used. The ethanol extracts of Polyalthia debilis and Xylopia aromatica proved to be quite active against Plasmodium falciparum in vitro (median inhibition concentration, IC50 < 1.5 µg/mL). Intraperitoneal injection of Annickia chlorantha aqueous extracts (cited as Enantia chlorantha) cleared chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium yoelii nigeriensis from the blood of mice in a dose-dependant manner. More phytochemical profiles of Annonaceous species are required; especially information on the more commonly distributed antimalarial compounds in this family.     3 Plants for Chemotherapy of Neoplastic Diseases GENERAL CONCEPT Each year in the United States more than 1 million people are diagnosed with cancer, and about 500,000 people die from the disease. For the most part, the reason that cancer is a fatal disease is that cancer cells can invade through, and metastasize to, distant organs in the body. The hallmarks of malignant neoplastic tissue are unregulated cell proliferation, invasiveness, and metastasis to distant sites in the body. Surgery and radiotherapy can eradicate localized tumors but may fail because the cancer may have metastasized to other areas of the body; chemotherapy, if used properly, may control or eliminate metastasis. We identified cultural and social drivers of use, compared knowledge distribution, determined management practices, and explored local ecological knowledge related to the species in the Lebombo Mountains, Tembe River, and Futi Corridor areas in southern Mozambique. Stratified random, semistructured interviews were con- ducted (182), complemented by 17 focus group discussions in the three study areas. W. salutaris was used medicinally to treat 12 health concerns, with the bark being the most commonly used part. Knowledge of the species varied between the three areas, but not with respondent gender or age. Harvesting was mostly through vertical bark stripping (71% of informants).

Lukea is characterised by a flattened circular bowl-shaped receptacle-calyx with a corolla of three petals that give the buds and flowers a unique appearance in African Annonaceae. Both species are extremely rare shrubs of small surviving areas of lowland evergreen forest under threat of habitat degradation and destruction and are provisionally assessed as Critically Endangered and Endangered respectively using the IUCN 2012 standard. Both species are illustrated and mapped. Material of the two species had formerly been considered to be possibly Uvariopsis Engl. & Diels, and the genus Lukea is placed in the Uvariopsis clade of the Monodoreae (consisting of the African genera Uvariodendron (Engl. & Diels) R.E.Fries, Uvariopsis, Mischogyne Exell, Dennettia Bak.f., and Monocyclanthus Keay).

The country has approximately 12,050 species of plants, which account for 8% of estimated plant species found globally. However, the forest cover of Thailand is under threats: habitat degradation, illegal logging, shifting cultivation and human settlement are the main causes of the reduction in forest area. As a result, rates of biodiversity loss have been high for some decades. The most effective tool to conserve biodiversity is the designation of protected areas (PA). The effective and most scientifically robust approach for designing networks of reserve systems is systematic conservation planning, which is designed to identify conservation priorities on the basis of analysing spatial patterns in species distributions and associated threats. The designation of PAs of Thailand were initially based on expert consultations selecting the areas that are suitable for conserving forest resources, not systematically selected. Consequently, the PA management was based on individual management plans for each PA. The previous work has also identified that no previous attempt has been made to apply the principles and methods of systematic conservation planning. Additionally, tree species have been neglected in previous analyses of the coverage of PAs in Thailand.
