CHANCERY NOTICE I. PORTRAIT OF THE DIOCESAN BISHOP All parishes, diocesan institutions, Catholic schools and ecclesial communities are asked to remove the portraits of the late Bishop Michael YEUNG Ming-cheung publicly displayed in their premises. The Diocese will provide portraits of the future Diocesan Bishop upon his appointment by the Holy See. II. GOVERNANCE OF THE DIOCESE DURING ITS VACANCY AND SOME INTERIM PROVISIONS 1. Cardinal John TONG Hon will govern our Diocese during its vacancy with the faculties delegated by the Holy See. 2. The power of Bishop Joseph HA, OFM, and Revv. Dominic CHAN Chi-ming, Peter CHOY Wai-man and Benedict LAM Cho-ming ceased upon the death (3 January 2019) of Bishop Michael YEUNG (cf. Canon 481§1), while Bishop Joseph HA retains all the powers and faculties he has as Auxiliary Bishop, until the new Diocesan Bishop takes office (cf. Canon 409§2). 3. Cardinal John TONG will serve as Chairperson of the Diocesan Commission for Pastoral Services to Migrant Workers from 15 January to 28 February 2019. 4. Cardinal John TONG has appointed Rev. Peter CHOY as Chairperson of The Hong Kong Catholic Board of Communications from 15 January to 31 December 2019. 5. The following provisions have been made by Cardinal John TONG with effect from 15 January 2019 and until the new Diocesan Bishop takes office: 5.1. Bishop Joseph HA Chi-shing, OFM, Revv. Dominic CHAN Chi-ming, Peter CHOY Wai-man and Benedict LAM Cho-ming are to respectively co-ordinate the work of individual diocesan commissions and offices, which Bishop Michael YEUNG had previously entrusted to them as Vicars General. (cf Chancery Notice of 2 October 2017, announced in the 8 October 2017 issue of Sunday Examiner, p.2) 5.2. Cardinal John TONG will be in charge of the following matters: a) Applications and Extensions of Visas for Clergy and Members of Religious Institutes and Societies of Apostolic Life at the Immigration Department and Consulates. b) Interrelationship between Holy Spirit Seminary, Holy Spirit Seminary College of Theology and Philosophy, and the Holy Spirit Study Centre. c) Co-ordination of the work of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Filipinos d) Matters related to Religious Institutes, Societies of Apostolic Life or Personal Prelature e) Pastoral Ministry to Ethnic Communities 5.3. Rev. Peter CHOY Wai-man will coordinate the work of each of the following diocesan bodies: a) Hong Kong Catholic Social Communications Office b) Diocesan Audio-Visual Centre c) Diocesan Weeklies (Kung Kao Po/ Sunday Examiner) Apart from the interim provisions as stated above, the governance of our Diocese remains unchanged, unless otherwise announced.
