Awards

Official NCAA awards will be presented to the first four teams in the championships. A team trophy and individual awards will be presented to teams finishing first, second, third and fourth in the championships. In addition, official NCAA awards will be presented to the top six place finishers in each individual discipline and the top three place finishers in each team discipline. Participation medallions will be presented to a maximum of 48 student-athletes competing at the championships. Members of the National Champion team will receive a national champion watch.

Championship Banquet

There will be a Championships Banquet on Thursday, March 13 beginning at 7:00 p.m. central time for the participating teams, NCAA Rifle Committee members, and local honored guests. The banquet will be held in the Murray Room of the CFSB Center. The presentation of the Elite 89 Award honoree (see below) will take place at this event, as will recognition of key personnel and special guests. The participants will be encouraged to mingle and socialize with one another and with guests. Dress for the event will be semi-formal.

A limited number of extra tickets may be available to teams and spectators at a cost of $25 per person. Banquet tickets should be reserved with Alan Lollar ([email protected]) at the time of securing final hotel reservations. See Appendix D for the Banquet Reservation Form.

Concessions

Concessions will be available both days of competition at the CFSB Center, upper concourse A.

Credentials

The following credentials will be distributed at registration on Wednesday, March 12:

• Each participating student-athlete will receive a student-athlete credential. • Each participating coach will receive a coach credential.

Drug Testing

Student-athletes who compete may be subjected to drug tests in accordance with Bylaws 18.4.1.5 and 31.2.3 and may be determined to be ineligible as a result thereof. Only student-athletes who

7

2014 NCAA Rifle National Championship Murray State University March 14-15, 2014

have consented in writing to such testing are initially eligible for these championships; and thereafter, student-athletes who are tested shall remain eligible only if they test negative.

NCAA Division I Championships/Sports Management Cabinet, following a recommendation from the NCAA drug-testing subcommittee, has discontinued the practice of announcing whether drug testing will be conducted at NCAA championship events. Although knowing prior to competition whether NCAA drug testing was to occur had value for reasons of convenience, it left open the possibility that student-athletes might be tempted to use banned substances if they knew that NCAA testing was not being conducted at the site of competition.

Therefore, all coaches and student-athletes should presume that post-event NCAA drug testing will occur at this championship event. Please note that no student-athlete will be notified of or escorted to NCAA drug testing without the knowledge of a credentialed official representative from that student-athlete's institution.

If drug testing occurs, the NCAA Championship Drug Testing Protocol will be followed.

If this championship is chosen for drug testing, the CFSB Center will be the testing site.

Elite 89 Award - NCAA Academic Recognition Program

The NCAA’s academic recognition program, the Elite 89 Award, will be presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 89 championships.

All documents and nomination forms may be obtained at the following location: online by clicking HERE.

The submission deadline for nomination for Men's and Women's Rifle is Wednesday, March 5, at 5 p.m. Eastern time.

At the conclusion of the championship the digital programs will be updated to reflect the results of the competition and hard copies can be purchased as a keepsake from the championship.
