Transformers Classics TPB ( IDW) comic books Beginning inIDW Publishing began a second reprinting of the Generation 1 Marvel Comics in full-color trade paperback omnibuses a year after completing their previous Classic Transformers reprint series. The difference this time being that these volumes contain all the omitted issues that were excluded from the previous release due to those issues featuring copyrighted characters such as Spider-Man or Circuit Breaker. The digital version of volume 1 sold at ComiXology did not feature the issues featuring these characters, but all other volumes released digitally have featured Circuit Breaker's issues. Due to the restoration of the missing issues, however, this results in these volumes being released in a smaller format with fewer chapters than before. On the plus side depending on who you askthese volumes have Transformers Classics: Volume 8 freshly remastered and recolored. Mark W. Bellomo provides editorial Transformers Classics: Volume 8, and Guido Guidi provides new cover art. The original comics featured in these volumes featured the four-color printing common to Marvel comics at the time, which used ben-day dots to create Transformers Classics: Volume 8 of color. This dotted look has been replicated in most previous reprints of these comics, including the original Transformers UK reprints, the Titan reprint volumes and all of IDW's previous reprints. Transformers Classics: Volume 8 these new reprints the comics were recolored with modern digital techniques which allow them to take advantage of modern printing techniques which produce smooth colors. The new colorations were based on the original color layouts done by Nel Yomtov. Or more accurately they're based on the original colour separations done by some anonymous old lady who didn't give a rat's head about the final product, but sure, let's blame Yomtov. Considering the original Marvel prints featured huge numbers of coloring errors, printing errors and look very dated, updating the colors is a welcome, well overdue addition. The problem is that the final result leaves Transformers Classics: Volume 8 lot to Transformers Classics: Volume 8 desired. The new colours are inconsistent, often muddy, and in many cases add new errors where there weren't any before. Some of the problems with the new restored versions include:. (NASDAQ: HAS) today announced it has closed the previously announced acquisition of Saban Properties’ Power Rangers and other Entertainment Assets. The transaction was funded through a combination of cash and stock valued at $522 million. “Power Rangers will benefit from execution across Hasbro’s Brand Blueprint and distribution through our omni-channel retail relationships globally,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Informed by engaging, multi-screen entertainment, a robust and innovative product line and consumer products opportunities all built on the brand’s strong heritage of teamwork and inclusivity, we see a tremendous future for Power Rangers as part of Hasbro’s brand portfolio.” Hasbro previously paid Saban Brands$22.25 million pursuant to the Power Rangers master toy license agreement, announced by the parties in February of 2018, that was scheduled to begin in 2019. Those amounts were credited against the purchase price. Upon closing, Hasbro paid $131.23 million in cash (including a $1.48 million working capital purchase price adjustment) and $25 million was placed into an escrow account. An additional $75 million will be paid on January 3, 2019. These payments are being funded by cash on the Company’s balance sheet. In addition, the Company issued 3,074,190 shares of Hasbro common stock to Saban Properties, valued at $270 million.     MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: ACTION FIGURES, CUSTOMIZATION AND MASCULINITY Eric Sobel A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS December 2018 Committee: Montana Miller, Advisor Esther Clinton Jeremy Wallach ii ABSTRACT Montana Miller, Advisor This thesis places action figures, as masculinely gendered playthings and rich intertexts, into a larger context that accounts for increased nostalgia and hyperacceleration. Employing an ethnographic approach, I turn my attention to the under-discussed adults who comprise the fandom. I examine ways that individuals interact with action figures creatively, divorced from children’s play, to produce subjective experiences, negotiate the inherently consumeristic nature of their fandom, and process the gender codes and social stigma associated with classic toylines. Toy customizers, for example, act as folk artists who value authenticity, but for many, mimicking mass-produced objects is a sign of one’s skill, as seen by those working in a style inspired by Masters of the Universe figures. However, while creativity is found in delicately manipulating familiar forms, the inherent toxic masculinity of the original action figures is explored to a degree that far exceeds that of the mass-produced toys of the 1980s. Collectors similarly complicate the use of action figures, as playfully created displays act as frames where fetishization is permissible. I argue that the fetishization of action figures is a stabilizing response to ever-changing trends, yet simultaneously operates within the complex web of intertexts of which action figures are invariably tied. To highlight the action figure’s evolving role in corporate hands, I examine retro-style Reaction figures as metacultural objects that evoke Star Wars figures of the late 1970s but, unlike Star Wars toys, discourage creativity, communicating through the familiar signs of pop culture to push the figure into a mental realm where official stories are narrowly interpreted.

In the following two decades the movement evolved to represent a diverse set of philosophies and developed new protest methods. In the early 1990s law enforcement and govern- ment offi cials in America, with support from extraction industries, created an image of the radical environmental movement as danger- ous “eco-terrorists.” Th e concept was deployed in an eff ort to de-val- ue the environmental movement’s position at a time of heightened environmental consciousness. With the concept in place members of the movement became easier to detain and the public easier to deter through political repression. Th e concept of “eco-terrorism” enters popular media relatively quickly indicated by the proliferation of superhero comics in the ear- ly 1990s that present villainous environmental activists as “eco-ter- rorists.” Th is imagery contrasts comics from 1970 which depicted superheroes as working alongside activists for the betterment of the world.

    BIBLIOGRAFIA ITALIANA DI J. M. DeMATTEIS A cura di: Gabriele ʿTermidoroʾ Perlini - mail: [email protected] Prima stesura: ottobre 2009 - Secondo aggiornamento: gennaio 2021 Ritenuto uno dei più grandi scrittori di Spider-Man, secondo solo a Stan Lee, il nome di J. M. DeMATTEIS è legato indissolubilmente alle gestioni ragnesche degli anni ʿ90 grazie ai cicli di storie in coppia con Sal Buscema e Mark Bagley, cui si annoverano i capolavori "The Child Within ", "Best Of Enemies " e "The Gift ". Scrivendo di un Peter Parker più adulto e massiccio come mai sino ad allora, l'autore si era aggiudicato qualche anno prima il successo grazie alla tragica saga "Kraven's Last Hunt " mentre, poco dopo, sarà la volta della miniserie "The Lost Years ". Sul fronte editoriale opposto si trovano lavori più divertenti ed ironici quali la Justice League International, scritta nella seconda metà degli anni ʿ80 insieme al fidato Keith Giffen, che ha valso alla coppia la nomination per l'Eisner Award come miglior albo singolo grazie al primo numero della loro gestione. Sempre per le più note case editrici americane di fumetti si ricordano gli indelebili cicli di Captain America e The Defenders per la Marvel ed i personaggi mistici della DC quali The Spectre, Dr. Fate, The Phantom Stranger e la Justice League Dark. Brevi incursioni si sono comunque avute anche in personaggi più classici come Batman e Superman. Per le case editrici minori citiamo la sfortunata Abadazad, The Stardust Kid, Hero Squared e The Life And Times Of Savior 28. Difficile poi dimenticare i progetti più personali dell'autore come l'evocativo Moonshadow, Blood: A Tale, Mercy, Seekers Into The Mystery e l'autobiografico Brooklyn Dreams.
