Job Description

The Scleroderma Foundation-Rocky Mountain Chapter (SFRMC) is seeking a marketing consultant to assist with marketing and of Chapter programs, events and fundraisers to advance the Foundation’s mission of awareness and education.

About the Scleroderma Foundation

SFRMC is a nonprofit 501c3 organization and is an affiliate of the Scleroderma Foundation headquartered in Danvers, MA. SFRMC services scleroderma patients, their caregivers and families in the Rocky Mountain region through support groups, educational programs, peer-to-peer counseling and doctor referrals. SFRMC works to promote awareness of scleroderma to the general public and to educate medical professionals to improve upon earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients. SFRMC hosts fundraising events to fund Chapter programs locally and research at the National level to find a cure, including Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walks in Denver and Fort Collins, Food Fight!, Colorado Gives Day and other miscellaneous fundraisers.

Position Summary

The Marketing/Media Consultant will provide marketing and media coordination and content to promote Chapter fundraising and program events, to raise awareness and to serve patients and medical professionals with educational information. The consultant will work closely with Chapter staff and fundraising committee chairs. The consultant will report directly to the Executive Director (ED) of the SFRMC.

Job Responsibilities

1. Literature and Overall Look a. Work with Chapter ED to develop more consistent look for website and email blasts (pending National database conversion in early 2017), outlets, newsletters and for promotion of fundraiser and program events. b. Work with Chapter ED to develop Chapter brochure to supplement National brochures and develop other Chapter marketing tools as needed. (NOTE: Priority of National board to focus on “branding” in coming year. Chapter focus – more consistent look.) 2. Social Media/Marketing a. Work with Chapter ED to develop annual marketing and communications plan for Chapter. b. Coordinate content for messaging on website, emails, quarterly newsletters, social media, event flyers/postcards/invitations, etc. c. Coordinate content for various customer segments of Chapter – patients, sponsors, donors, healthcare providers. d. Develop content for event promotion. e. Develop social media keyword content, analyze demographics and expand Chapter outlets to other social media outlets in addition to Facebook and :

i. Marketing to millennials (goal – awareness) ii. Marketing to baby boomers (goal – donors) iii. Develop work plan for intern to maintain social media content on long-term basis. f. Develop June Awareness Campaign to complement/expand upon National and Hard Word campaigns. (Young Professionals project) 3. Other/Miscellaneous a. Develop relationships with local media to promote awareness of scleroderma and Chapter events. Develop content for press releases and public service announcements and manage to the media. Develop media kit for fundraising events. b. Work with Chapter ED to develop medical community outreach plan/program.

Minimum Qualifications

Criteria for evaluation will include but not be limited to:

 Demonstrated knowledge and experience in marketing for nonprofits.  Minimum two years’ experience in marketing for nonprofits.  Minimum two years’ experience in social media and related analytics.  Experience and relationships with local media.  Ability to work independently and report progress.  Organized and ability to adhere to timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Schedule

This position is part-time at 10-20 hours/week and pays hourly. Can work from home but must meet with ED and Board to provide updates and plans.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience; this is a contract/part-time position that pays hourly. Start date is negotiable.
