Welcome to all who are visiting Augusta on this Master’s Sunday. We thank you for the example of a strong faith life in putting your Master first this morning. We hope St. Mary on the Hill has been a good place for you to celebrate the Eucharist. Have a great day and a safe trip home as you enjoy this little bit of Master’s humor.

Most people think that Augusta National is a little bit of heaven and I’ve heard reports that the folks on the other side of the pearly gates have so admired the course that they actually have had a duplicate made in heaven. But you have to be careful who you play with up there. After a round at the heavenly course, St. Peter wasn’t very happy and he told this bitter tale of woe.

“Nothing could stop me from winning. I had a putt of about eleven inches, hardly more than a tap-in, to clinch it. The green was dead flat, perfectly true, a real billiard table. Not a breath of wind. My ball was heading for the cup, on rails. Then a raven swooped down, snatched it up, and circled the flag stick, twice. The raven then passed the ball to a hawk, which flapped over to Rae’s Creek, opened its talons and ...... splash. End of story.” St. Peter sighed deeply and vowed, “Last time I play with St. Francis of Assisi.” ***

Tomorrow is tax day and I hope anyone who pays State income taxes this year will consider making a donation to Grace Scholars. It is a win, win situation for our Catholic Schools and for a reduction in your next year’s state taxes of the amount you contributed.

URGENT: GRACE SCHOLARS If you plan to redirect your taxes this year and help a child attend St. Mary School, NOW IS THE TIME! As of March 31, the Georgia Department of Revenue had approved more than $18.4 million of the $52.4 million in education tax credits available in 2013, and $17,000 has been directed to St. Mary School. Our Goal is $78,000 so we have a long way to go and a short time to get there. Forms are available in the Narthex and in the church office. Please call Mary Davis at 706-733-6627 if you need assistance. And, if you have already submitted your paperwork to redirect your taxes, thank you! ***

It is great to have Father Michael Lubinsky back with us. Our thoughts and prayers have been with him and his siblings as they grieve the death of their Mom. Her Mass of Resurrection was held on Thursday, April 4, at Holy Family , Citrus Heights, CA. This is the Obituary for Fr. Michael’s Mom:

Delia J. LUBINSKY, of Citrus Heights died peacefully Palm Sunday March 24, 2013, at the age of 92, while visiting family in her native ‘Land of Enchantment’ home Puerto Rico. Mrs. Lubinsky was born Sept. 8 1920, the daughter of Dr. Carlos and Sra. Juanita Gonzalez. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico and then worked as a laboratory technician at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. She met William ‘Bill’ Lubinsky, a member of the U.S. Air Force while he was stationed in Puerto Rico, and they married in 1950.

A world traveler, Delia left her mark in more than 68 countries that she visited during her lifetime. She believed in the value of hard work, service to others, and a deep faith in God, which she practiced daily by reciting the Rosary and watching Mass on EWTN. She will be forever remembered for the colorful flowers in her hair, her radiant smile, affectionate embraces, encouraging words, love and gentleness and her steadfast commitment to family, friends, and her faith.

Delia is survived by six children and eight grandchildren: son Fr. Michael Lubinsky of St Mary’s on the Hill, Augusta, GA, son and wife Peter and Paula Lubinsky of Roseville and their children Jillie and Jenner; daughter and husband Nita and Todd Tennier of Citrus Heights and their son Jonathan; son and wife, Andrew and Valerie Lubinsky of Roseville and their children Lindsay and Drew; son and wife Edward and Carol of Modesto and their children Megan, Sammy and Christopher. Also surviving are her sister, Vangy Caro and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, John in 1993; and her beloved husband, CMSGT ‘Bill’ Lubinsky, USAF, in 2000. ***

After Mass one Sunday, a rather scrupulous young parishioner walked up to his parish priest and asked, “Father, is it a sin to play golf on Sunday? “My son,” said the priest, “I’ve seen you play golf and I hope you won’t think I’m lacking in compassion but the truth is it’s a sin any day you play.” -Ouch!
