Y,[(K: 94:327](497.13 Kop'lyna:450.341 )" 15" Oliver JENS SCHMITT Institut ftir Osteuropaische Geschichte Wien Austria MICRO-HISTORY AND LEBENSWELTEN AS APPROACHES TO LATE MEDIEVAL DALMATIAN HISTORY. A CASE STUDY OF KORCULN Abstract: The article discusses micro-history as approach for analyzing the question of Venetian rule in Late Medieval Dalmatia. Thick description of local conflicts on the island of Korcula reveals a complex network of personal economic and political dependencies and demonstrates the limits ofVenetian power. Key Words: Dalmatia, Venice, Korcula, Micro-History While most medievalists dealing with Late Medieval Southeastern Europe are trained to analyze in detail a rather restricted number of docu ments which were actually produced in the region (this observation does, obviously, not concern Dubrovnik), relying usually heavily on a documentation from outside the area or even stemming from later periods, the archive of Korcula represents the very rare example of an almost complete source collection of a minor island at the crossroads of the Balkans and the East Mediterranean world. This paper discusses the question whether some methods of the so called New Cultural History help analyzing the Korculan society of the 15th century. It is divided into several steps: 1. It will try to give a short methodological overview of the methods in question 2. It will describe in a few words the political and social framework of the Korculan society at the eve of the Venetian domination ' This article was read as a paper at the University of Belgrade in October 2009; it was probably one of the last lectures Sima Cirkovic could attend.

Botany, Marulićev trg 20, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia. 2 Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, PO Box 83, HR-20101 Dubrovnik, Croatia. The Pelješac Peninsula (355 km2) is located in the south-eastern part of the Croatian Adri atic coast and characterised by considerable variations in types of vegetation. As a result of intensive floristic and vegetational research on the Pelješac Peninsula between 1994 and 1999, 64 hitherto unrecorded taxa were identified. A further 43 were identified from existing specimens in the Herbarium of the Lokrum Botanic Garden. The total number of new taxa for this area is thus 107, which brings the total number of vascular flora species for it to more than 1100. Key words: flora, Pelješac, Croatia Introduction Pelješac is the second largest Croatian peninsula (Fig. 1.). It is 67 km long, 7.8 km wide at its widest point, and covers an area of 355 km2. • The Case of Dubrovnik-Neretva County
Journal of Business Paradigms Vol 4 No 2, 2019 THE IMPLEMENTATION OF FACEBOOK IN DESTINATION MARKETING: THE CASE OF DUBROVNIK-NERETVA COUNTY Lorena Bašan1 Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Croatia Matea Ban Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Croatia Review Manuscript Received October 20th 2019 Manuscript Accepted December 25th 2019 ABSTRACT Since the emergence and rapid development of the Internet and its implementation in companies within the tourism and hospitality industry, Internet marketing has become a vital marketing tool. Social media, in particular, are one of the most important media in Internet communication and an integral part of a large number of business entities, including those related to tourism. Many tourist destinations that understand the importance of social media as a source of information in the phase of tourist-destination selection and recognise the opportunities social media provide are using social networks to communicate and interact with tourists. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to determine the implementation level of Facebook as the most often used networking site in destination marketing. The paper is based on empirical research conducted in Dubrovnik-Neretva County using content analysis. Results obtained by this study allow decision makers in destination marketing to implement Facebook in a more efficient way, by exploiting the underutilized advantages of social media to gain a competitive advantage in the contemporary tourist market and achieve better business results in the future. 1 Address correspondence to Lorena Bašan Associate Professor, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Department of Marketing, Opatija, Croatia, E-mail: [email protected] 46 The Implementation Of Facebook In Destination Marketing Bašan L., Ban M.
