A. 3 Author for correspondence ( [email protected] ) Communicating Editor: Javier Francisco-Ortega Abstract— Previous attempts to resolve relationships among the primary lineages of Campanulidae (e.g. Apiales, Asterales, Dipsacales) have mostly been unconvincing, and the placement of a number of smaller groups (e.g. Bruniaceae, Columelliaceae, Escalloniaceae) remains uncertain. Here we build on a recent analysis of an incomplete data set that was assembled from the literature for a set of 50 campanulid taxa. To this data set we first added newly generated DNA sequence data for the same set of genes and taxa. Second, we sequenced three additional cpDNA coding regions (ca. 8,000 bp) for the same set of 50 campanulid taxa. Finally, we assembled the most comprehensive sample of cam- panulid diversity to date, including ca. 17,000 bp of cpDNA for 122 campanulid taxa and five outgroups. Simply filling in missing data in the 50-taxon data set (rendering it 94% complete) resulted in a topology that was similar to earlier studies, but with little additional resolution or confidence. -

The sepal lobes are broadly triangular perennial herb, known in Tasmania from about and about 0.5 mm long. The style is slender, 8 a dozen sites in the central east. The species to 9 mm long and the indusium (a cup-like occurs in dry sclerophyll vegetation on dolerite structure enclosing the stigma) about 1.5 mm and has a disturbance-based ecology, appearing wide with a tuft of rigid mauve-brown bristles in large numbers for a few years after fire. The at its posterior and white bristles around its species’ ephemeral character puts it at risk of orifice. The fruit is ovoid, 3 to 4 mm long, inadvertent clearance, other threats including rugose and pubescent. -

Scaevola xanthina (Goodeniaceae), a new yellow-flowered species from the south coast of Western Australia. Nuytsia 24: 95–99 (2014). Scaevola xanthina K.A.Sheph. & Hislop, a new species readily distinguished by its prostrate habit and yellow flowers, is here described. This species is geographically restricted and is currently only known from Mount Manypeaks Nature Reserve. It is listed according to Department of Parks and Wildlife Conservation Codes for Western Australia Flora as a Priority Two taxon under the phrase-name Scaevola sp. Waychinicup (E.M. Sandiford EMS 1336). Images and an amendment to the Flora of Australia key to Scaevola L. are included. Introduction In February 2007, Albany-based botanist Libby Sandiford collected a distinctive, yellow-flowered Scaevola L. during a Department of Environment and Conservation (now Department of Parks and Wildlife) Priority Flora survey. The taxon was found in a gully near the coast in the Mount Manypeaks Nature Reserve, east of Albany, Western Australia. Phrase-named as Scaevola sp. Waychinicup (E.M. Sandiford EMS 1336), the taxon was not collected again until 2013, when more than 100 plants were discovered by Damien Rathbone during another departmental survey of the area. -
