The Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire was built in 1964. Imagined by the president Félix Houphouët-Boigny and designed by Moshe Mayer, It was considered, at the time, as the most modern and prestigious building of the African continent.

Following the political crisis that the Ivory Coast faced, the Hotel was closed during 2 years for a major renovation conducted by the Lebanese architect Pierre Fakhoury.

The hotel has a very contemporary architecture with a Tower overlooking the Lagoon and an artificial Lake.

“The Tower” and its 209 rooms opened in November 2011 and “the Bar” still in the process of being renovated. Starting from January 2013 will start a new era for the Hôtel Ivoire as a Sofitel.
