De inhoud van de dozen was niet beschreven en niet geordend. Hieronder volgt een summier plaatsingslijst die een eerste indruk geeft van de stukken. The Dutch government, which heads the Coun cil for the rest of this year, hopes that the ministers will be able to find political solutions to legal issues that the Council's working party so far has failed to re solve at its weekly meetings. But Community officials are increasingly doubtful whether the problems can be solved hy the end of 1976, the deadline for implementing the proposed system for the 1978 Connnunity Budget. In 1973 the Europe?n Commission had proposed harmoni zation of the VAT base in order to facilitate calculation of part of the Community Budget starting in '78 (Common Market Reports, Par. 3165). This proposal followed up on the Council's 1970 decision that the contributions to the Budget now derived from agricultural levies and customs du ties should be augmented as of 1979 by national VAT revenue obtained by applying a rate not exceeding 1% on a uniform assessment base.

The objective of the draft directive is to offer a way of avoiding the double taxation of profits transferred "artificially" between associated enterprises established in different member states. It is believed that multinational companies in particular have been using this device of disguised and artificial profit transfers in numerous ways (for example, by demanding excessive patent fees). Under present circumstances, a member state's tax au thorities may slap a higher tax on a parent company that has in effect reduced its tax liability by transferring profits to a subsidiary in another state. Yet, tax author ities in the latter state may not necessarily lower their assessment accordingly. Hier komt de wetgeving vandaan waaraan in de vijftien lidstaten van de Europese Unie niets meer kan worden veranderd. ‘Holland’s single most important weapon’ A CPE-inspired Common Sense Analysis of the Consensus on Wage Restraint in the Netherlands Tom van de Haar 10379029 09-07-18 De Deken Abstract Although wage restraint is often used as an explanans for the Dutch ‘miracle’, it is rarely viewed as an explanandum: that which needs to be explained. This thesis investigates how wage restraint became the ‘go-to’ solution during economic downturns in the Netherlands. Despite the occasional reluctance of trade unions to accept lower wage increases, the consensus of the social partners on wage restraint and its apparent benefits throughout the last few decades has been remarkable. To understand why trade unions have subscribed to a logic that not necessarily seems beneficial for its members it is necessary to adopt a CPE-inspired common sense framework. With the help of this framework, this thesis argues that the consensus of the government and the social partners on wage restraint has been underpinned and shaped by a competitiveness discourse, which over time has been incorporated into common sense. This competitiveness discourse has been propagating an unequivocal positive link between wage restraint and employment. Personalization of political newspaper coverage: a longitudinal study in the Dutch context since 1950 Ellis Aizenberg, Wouter van Atteveldt, Chantal van Son, Franz-Xaver Geiger VU University, Amsterdam This study analyses whether personalization in Dutch political newspaper coverage has increased since 1950. In spite of the assumption that personalization increased over time in The Netherlands, earlier studies on this phenomenon in the Dutch context led to a scattered image. Through automatic and manual content analyses and regression analyses this study shows that personalization did increase in The Netherlands during the last century, the changes toward that increase however, occurred earlier on than expected at first. This study also shows that the focus of reporting on politics is increasingly put on the politician as an individual, the coverage in which these politicians are mentioned however became more substantive and politically relevant. Keywords: Personalization, content analysis, political news coverage, individualization, privatization Introduction When personalization occurs a focus is put on politicians and party leaders as individuals. The context of the news coverage in which they are mentioned becomes more private as their love lives, upbringing, hobbies and characteristics of personal nature seem increasingly thoroughly discussed. An article published in 1984 in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf forms a good example here, where a horse race betting event, which is attended by several ministers accompanied by their wives and girlfriends is carefully discussed1. Nowadays personalization is a much-discussed phenomenon in the field of political communication. Waar komt de 'Tinbergennorm’ 1: 5 vandaan? Broer Akkerboom* * Voormalig Docent Openbare Financiën; Rijksuniversiteit Groningen Versie: 25 april 2015. De inkomensverdeling is een hot item. In de beleidsdiscussies wordt vaak naar Nobelprijswinnaar Jan Tinbergen verwezen. Hij zou gesteld hebben dat de ratio van het maximum- en minimuminkomen in een bedrijf niet hoger mag zijn dan vijf. Dit artikel is een zoektocht naar de precieze bron van deze Tinbergennorm. Bekende gebruikers van de norm worden op hun bronnen getoetst. Een Amerikaanse Nobelprijswinnaar wordt gewogen. Wikipedia komt op de pijnbank. En om te beginnen wordt Tinbergen zelf uitgebreid doorgelicht. Het resultaat is verrassend. Dat Jan Tinbergen de norm van 1: 5 heeft bedacht, lijkt een verzinsel. Normatieve discussie Loonfatsoen van Margo Trappenburg e.a. (2014) is een heel aardig boek over beloningsverschillen. Vooral vanwege de in het boek opgenomen interviews waarbij hoger- en lagerbetaalde Nederlanders praten over het eigen inkomen in relatie tot dat van anderen in hun werkomgeving. De geïnterviewden hebben het er niet gemakkelijk mee, niet met het eigen als ook met andermans inkomen, maar toch is de toonzetting heel wat 'invoelender’ dan men normaal in de sociale media en andere media ervaart. De interviews, aangevuld met enige artikelen van een aantal inkomensdeskundigen, leveren hoofddocent bestuurs- en organisatiewetenschap Margo Trappenburg en docent sociale en politieke filosofie Pieter Pekelharing het materiaal op om in het laatste hoofdstuk van het boek te kunnen concluderen, dat er in de bedrijven, op de werkplek, discussies over moreel verantwoorde inkomensverhoudingen moeten komen. En die discussies zouden wat hun betreft moeten plaatsvinden aan de hand van een norm, "de Tinbergennorm, de 1:5- verhouding".

Het CDA was onderweg naar Kerkrade, naar de eerste grote partijmanifestatie van de 'hete fase' vlak voor de Tweede-Kamerverkiezingen. Lijsttrekker Elco Brinkman brak tijdens de lunch het brood met bisschop Frans Wiertz van Roer- mond. Die had na monseigneur Gijsen de dialoog teruggebracht in de Limburgse kerk, een man dus bij wie Brinkman zich thuis kon voelen. Ze gaven na afloop geen interviews aan de media. De bus reed verder, vol journalisten maar zonder lijsttrekker. Brinkman bleef enige uren buiten beeld en belde met advocaten en adviseurs. In het partijhoofdkwartier in Den Haag was de CDA-campagneraad druk doende. Kamervoorzitter Deetman en interim-partijvoorzitter Tineke Lodders hadden daar de touwtjes in handen. Zijwilden het be- gin van de campagne luister bijzetten met een verrassing. Het CDA kon wel een opsteker gebruiken. Diezelfde dag, woensdag 13 april 1994, was premier Ruud Lubbers toch in Brussel en hij werd op de valreep bereid gevonden bij zijn terugreis het Wijngrachttheater in Kerkrade aan te doen. Hij zou er de CDA-manifestatie onverwacht opluisteren. In de campagnebus wisten ze van niets. Pas toen Elco Brinkman met zijn entourage in Kerkrade arriveerde, werd hen gemeld wie in aan- tocht was. Perschef Frits Wester wachtte Lubbers op bij de deur van het theater en vroeg hem wat hij die avond ging doen. Lubbers beende hem voorbij: 'Mmm, niks bijzonders. Beetje Elco ondersteunen.' Ook dat hectic ondersteuning kon het CDA in 1994 niet meer helpen. De verkie- zingen van 3 mei van dat jaar werden een scherpe inbreuk in de ont- wikkeling van de christen-democratie.

Zijn bekendste bijnaam was ‘Mooie Barend’, vanwege zijn lengte (1.97 meter) en zijn good looks. Biesheuvel werd op 5 april 1920 geboren in de Houtrokpolder, een typisch Nederlandse polder tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem. Zijn voorouders hadden zich in die streek gevestigd nadat ze het Land van Heusen en Altena, in het zuiden van het land, verlaten hadden.
