Other will close in September this includes facilities supported by WASDA in Afmadow town (SC, TSFP, OTP) and the SC in Mahfalka supported by PAC, through UNICEF funds. - Partners reported increased IDPs both in Kismayo and Afmadow districts put pressure on little resources as the trend of admission goes up. - Some of the nutrition partners may face stock out in the coming month, which may worsen the situation. Challenges - SAK UK nutrition sites in Kismayo closed, four OTP sites were closed during the month of July and patients transferred to other nutrition sites. This will put pressure on the little available resources and partners will face stock out. - Inadequate PPE and even some partners doesn’t have the PPE’s at all. - Nutrition services (OTP and SC) gap in Jowhar from 1st Sep 2020 - Delay of WFP nutrition supplies to Jowhar Ips - IDPs in Bal’ad do not have access to TSFP services. - Low admission in Puntland due to simplified admission protocol in the context of COVID-19. Challenges - Elwak district is one of the hot spot area with minimal or no humanitarian intervention supporting nutrition , despite high number of malnourished cases including MAM and SAM of children under five and PLWs Both SRDA and EDRO have no active PD from UNICEF - SRDA only have TSFP through the support of WFP in Luuq district children who deteriorates or needs an admission to OTP are no where to be referred due to absence of OTP program in luuq district - TSFP and MCHN gap in majority of Sanaag region. - Mudug IDPs experiencing health and nutrition gap - Anticipated health and nutrition service gap in Sool and Cayn regions. Achievements - Resumed normal cluster meeting modalities, partners also agreed to ensure active participation by putting COVID-19 precaution measures eg, use face mask to all meeting participants, hand sensitizer to put in place, arranging suitable environment - Sharing SC case load on monthly basis with the subnational cluster team. - With the guidance of the Banadir regional cluster focal point and MoH, CWW covered the nutrition gap in Elda’as village. - The riverine site effected by the floods were also relocated to the places where people are displaced. Achievements - Implementation of mother MUAC screening in the prevention of covid19 prevention during service delivery. - The health/nutrition partners together with the state ministry of health conducted a joint facility visit to assess the situation on the reported measles outbreak in the month of August 2020. - Partners strengthened their active case finding to reduce defaulters in the facilities. - Somali Aid secured new funding to support Birole, Kudha, Suqa xolaha Kamboni, and Sinia HC. - Partners have already over achieved the yearly target due to the growing need for nutrition services (OTP, TSFP, SC). Achievements - According to the current data the plan versus achieved of SAM cases shows an improvements - The new modalities of COVID 19 has been adopted and implemented this includes bi weekly distribution of RUTF for SAM without complication and bi monthly distribution for MAM cases including PLWs and under five. - COVID 19 response activities is ongoing partners reported that the community receives session on risk of transmission and major barriers on how to make locally made face masks and critical hand washing at home and health facilities based levels Achievements - Infection prevention control is done at health based facility levels, session were given on personal protection and use of equipment with each patient during the pandemic - Zonal nutrition cluster team organized a virtual Rapidpro orientation workshop for fixed and mobile facilities in- charges across Puntland region. A total of 120 facilities who receive the SMS have attended the virtual orientation session. We have seen an improvement in the response rate after the orientation workshop. - Zonal nutrition cluster team analyzed the Rapidpro data from July and August broadcasts.
