Shrek Audition Monologues Shrek: Once upon a time there was a little ogre named Shrek, who lived with his parents in a bog by a tree. It was a pretty nasty place, but he was happy because ogres like nasty. On his 7th birthday the little ogre’s parents sat him down to talk, just as all ogre parents had for hundreds of years before. Ahh, I know it’s sad, very sad, but ogres are used to that – the hardships, the indignities. And so the little ogre went on his way and found a perfectly rancid swamp far away from civilization. And whenever a mob came along to attack him he knew exactly what to do. Rooooooaaaaar! Hahahaha! Fiona: Oh hello! Sorry I’m late! Welcome to Fiona: the Musical! Yay, let’s talk about me. Once upon a time, there was a little princess named Fiona, who lived in a Kingdom far, far away. One fateful day, her parents told her that it was time for her to be locked away in a desolate tower, guarded by a fire-breathing dragon- as so many princesses had for hundreds of years before. Isn’t that the saddest thing you’ve ever heard? A poor little princess hidden away from the world, high in a tower, awaiting her one true love Pinocchio: (Kid or teen) This place is a dump! Yeah, yeah I read Lord Farquaad’s decree. “ All fairytale characters have been banished from the kingdom of Duloc. All fruitcakes and freaks will be sent to a resettlement facility.” Did that guard just say “Pinocchio the puppet”? I’m not a puppet, I’m a real boy! Man, I tell ya, sometimes being a fairytale creature sucks pine-sap! Settle in, everyone. -

I love you. ABSTRACT It is typical for people to believe urban legends. An urban legend is any modem, fictional story, told as truth that reaches a wide audience by being passed from person to person. The study of urban legends helps us be more alert to false information in our everyday lives. There are very limited resources about urban legends and the impact of the stories on deaf culture. There are very few stories that are common in the deaf community. There are plenty of books about urban legends, but none includes deaf people. -
Ole & Lena Joke / Fortune Cookies
OLE & LENA JOKE / FORTUNE COOKIES Contributors: Krumkake recipe from Dena Iverson, Embla Lodge #2 (pg. 76, Nordic Cook- book) & Fortune Cookie Joke (Yoke) Shape & idea by Mary Ashley, Sigrid Undset Lodge #32,Cupertino, CA 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 cup butter, metled (1 stick) 1/2 cup whipping cream 2 cups all-purpose flour Ole/Lena Jokes cut into small strips of paper and folded to fit inside Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar, nutmeg, melted butter cream and enough flour to handle. Let stand 30 minutes (or more) in refrigerator.. Preheat Krumkake grill* as directed. Open iron; lightly brush inside top and bottom with shortening, oil or melted butter. Spoon small amount of batter in the center of the grill (less than 1 Tablespoon batter). Close iron. Bake until lightly browned (about 1 - 2 minutes). Insert tip of a knife under cookie to remove from iron; insert a fortune in center and quickly close into a half circle and place (fold side) over side of glass container (2 cup glass mea- suring cups work well) folding into the fortune cookie shape. Hold until cool enough to hold shape. Move to plate to cool further before packaging or eating. *The electric Krumkake griddles (irons) for these cookies are available at many of the Scandinavian shops and other cookware places online. However a Pizzelle griddle with 2–4 shapes works terrific as well and increases time you take to do this. HELL IS A GAME SHOW: AN ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION OF THE AFTERLIFE ______________________________ A Thesis Presented to The Honors Tutorial College Ohio University _____________________________ In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for Graduation from the Honors Tutorial College with the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film _____________________________ by Zachary Stoner May 2018 Stoner 1 “Hell is other people,” shouts Joseph Garcin in Jean-Paul Sartre’s 1944 play Huis Clos (No Exit). It was this sentiment that summarizes the entire play: man can never escape the judgment of others and in turn is always in the hell of his own self-judgment. It is this quote, in its various forms and parodies, that would come back to haunt me in ironic ways. But it was also this play that took me down the path that would eventually lead me to the creation of my film: Hell is a Game Show. This project starts before Sartre, with my junior year film Near Sighted: The Usually Alone Interview - specifically with a supporting actress by the name of Evie Weir. Her acting was smart and funny, a natural with the kind of dark comedy that I had become so fond of writing. There’s an old Hollywood expression that goes “directing is ninety percent casting,” and I planned to take that a step further and write my thesis film around a talented actress that had a great knowledge of the craft. I had just finished watching two dark comedies: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) and Seven Psychopaths (2012). Both feature comedy that relies heavily on horrible murder or torture. -

Directions Most everyone is probably familiar with how to play traditional American bingo. Each player is given a game board with numbers appearing in a 5 x 5 grid. When using bingo as a classroom game the numbers are usually replaced with words and/or images, giving students a chance to review vo- cabulary, spelling and facts while having fun. Sometimes the grids may be smaller or larger, making the game easier or harder depending on students’ needs. Whoever is calling the game randomly selects a number, word, or image and all players look for that item on their board. If that item appears on their board, the player covers the item with a chip. (You can also use pennies or just about any small item as a marker.) After everyone covers their square if they need to, another randomly selected item is announced and the game continues. The first player to cover a column, row, or diagonal, calls out “Bingo!” and wins the game. You can also decide ahead of time to use differ- ent patterns to determine the winner (such as all corners or inside squares). The great thing about bingo in the classroom is that it is a flexible game. -

Frenzy: Once per day, whenever a Tarmak takes damage, they fly into a frenzy for 1 minute, gaining a +2 racial bonus to Constitution and Strength, but a –2 penalty to AC. Languages: Tarmaks begin play speaking Tarmakian. Tarmaks with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Common, Damjatt, Keena, and Nerakese. Cooking up a Story! Cooking with preschool children provides many unseen benefits. First, it’s fun and they have your undivided attention. It doesn’t always mean using the stove or oven! (See the Dinosaur sandwich recipe I have placed in your child’s kit this week) With cooking activities, preschoolers will: -Improve their self-help skills by preparing and serving their own snacks. (This also prepares them for future school snacks and lunchtime) -Learn about nutrition and food choices. -Develop small motor control and coordination (as they mix and pour and scoop), eye-hand coordination (by pouring, cracking eggs, measuring). -Develop math skills by measuring, counting number of teaspoons of an ingredient, etc. -Discover reading print in a recipe gives them direction. -Develop a great sense of pride because they “made it themselves”! ************************************************************************ One of MY favorite books here at the library which I HIGHLY recommend is Fairy Tale Feasts! It tells fairy tales followed by a recipe for that story. My granddaughters and I have cooked several of them. They have even eaten foods they normally would not have tried, that’s Awesome!! Da Mob Roolz Orcs enjoy fighting and looting more than anything else. Because of this, an Orc’s life is spent in constant battle – either with his fellow Orcs or some other enemy. With its wealth of opponents and loot ready for the taking, Mordheim offers the perfect opportunity for an aspiring Orc Warboss to prove himself. What follows are complete rules, written by Mark Havener, for Orc & Goblin warbands. Among the races of the player’s turn, roll a D6 for each Henchman who is either an Warhammer world, none enjoy Orc or a Goblin. A roll of 1 means that the warrior has taken the prospect of a good looting offense to something one of his mates has done or said. Do more than Orcs and Goblins. For not roll for models that are engaged in hand-to-hand combat this reason many Orc warbands have (they’re already scrappin’!).
