Steep pressure gradient persist over North Bay. Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area and the maritime ports. Maritime ports of chittagong, cox’s bazar and mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no. THREE (R) THREE. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay. Forecast: Light to moderate rain/T.showers accompanied by tempo. gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places. Temperature: Day and night temperature may fall by 1-2°C over the country. The Padma is in rising trend which may start to fall in the next 24 hours. The flood situation in Sylhet, Jamalpur, Gaibandha and Serajgonj may likely to improve in next 48 hours. DO letter has been issued to Ministry of Agriculture to distribute “Aman” seed, to Ministry of Education and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education to distribute text books to the students and to clean classrooms by bleaching powder and to Ministry of Local Government Division and Rural Development and Cooperative to clean water of tube well and well, urgently. Letter has been issued to the Ministry of Information to broadcast “Things to Do Before, During and After Flood” in TV channels, to Food Division to distribute “Atop” rice to Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban and to SPARRSO to produce satellite map of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban and to send to Disaster Management and Relief Division to identify vulnerable areas. 717 medical teams have been formed to provide health services support to flood affected areas. 85 teams in Kurigram, 10 in Jamalpur, 38 in Gaibandha, 3 in Bogra, 283 in Chittagong, 113 in Cox’s Bazar, 2 in Bandarban, 157 in Sylhet and 26 teams are working in Sunamganj. Necessary health services and medicines are being provided through these medical teams. National Disaster Response Coordination Center (NDRCC) is opened to observe and monitor the situation caused for heavy rainfall, onrush of water in hilly region and flood situation across the country, to communicate continuously with Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), Department of Relief and Rehabilitation (DoRR), Disaster Management Bureau (DMB) and District Administration, 04/07/2012, including Friday and Saturday. Besides 5 directors/ deputy directors from Department of Relief and Rehabilitation (DoRR) have been given responsibility to visit in person, to provide report about situation, to monitor relief activity with district administration of Kurigram, Gaibandha, Sirajganj and Jamalpur and to send report and recommendation to the Ministry and Department of Relief and Rehabilitation. District wise Flood Situation Flood Situation in North and Middle Region of the Country: Kurigram Vurungamari, Rajibpur, Nageshwri, Fulbari, Sadar, Ulipur, Chilmari and Low land and 53 Char area’s unions of Roumari are flooded and water logged due to the upstream water and heavy rainfall for last few days. Water receding and all 4 rivers are flowing under the danger level. Flood situation is improving. Due to flood 52153 people took shelter into 69 shelters. The road breached previously at Golabari of Rowmari is repaired and road communication is reestablished. Total affected families- 65969, affected household-22609(Totally), 55447 (Partially). In addition, crops of 7292.47 (Totally) and 13156 hectors (Partially), 765 km kacha/paka road and 74 educational and religious institutions are damaged. 33 bridge/culverts are affected. 85 medical teams are working. District administration allocated 810 MT GR rice and 15,00,000 Taka to distribute among the affected people of Upazillas. Relief activities are ongoing. Gaibandha Currently flood situation is unchanged. Water level of the river Ghaghot remains steady. Water receded from other 3 rivers. Water level of Brhommoputra and Ghaghot is flowing over the danger level and the river Korotoa and Tista is flowing under the danger level. 30 unions of 5 upazilla and 1 ward of the low land of gaibandha sadar are already inundated. As a result 60778 numbers of families are affected. 2 unions of Sadullapur and 1 from the Sadar upazilla are innundated due to the breach of the WAPDA embankment at Komoron and Kismat bala villages of Kholahati union of Sadar upazilla. Due to the inundation of households 8947 people have taken shelter into the shelters and on high land/road/embankments. 2 people died for flood. 38 medical teams are formed already. 1500000 taka and 491 MT rice are sub-allocated to distribute among the affected people of these upazillas. Relief activities are ongoing. Overall situation is under observation. Bogra All the rivers are continuing to recede. 11 unions of Sariakandi, Dhunot and Sonatola upazila were flooded. 13 villages of Bhandarbari union and 4 villages of Goshaibari union, total 17 villages, inundated as flood control embankment of Raghunath village of Dhunot upazila was breached. Repairing of damaged embankment is going on. Water is flowing down from inundated areas. District administration ahs allocated 100 MT GR rice for the people of flood affected upazilas (Sariakandi – 60 MT, Dhunot – 20 MT, Shonatola – 20 MT). Overall situation is under observation and monitoring by district administration. Jamalpur Water level of the river Jamuna is decreased by 47 cm and flowing 59 cm above the danger level. Water is receding from the 40 unions and 3 Purashava of 7 upazillas including Deoanganj, Islampur, Sadar, Madarganj, Melandah, Sarishabari, and Bakshiganj.
