Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -

Cover photo: Patrik Olofsson/N Maps: Stadsbyggnadskontoret Kristianstads kommun PERIODIC REVIEW FOR BIOSPHERE RESERVE INTRODUCTION The UNESCO General Conference, at its 28th session, adopted Resolution 28 C/2.4 on the Statutory Framework of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. This text defines in particular the criteria for an area to be qualified for designation as a biosphere reserve (Article 4). In addition, Article 9 foresees a periodic review every ten years The periodic review is based on a report prepared by the relevant authority, on the basis of the criteria of Article 4. The periodic review must be submitted by the national MAB Committee to the MAB Secretariat in Paris. The text of the Statutory Framework is presented in the third annex. The form which follows is provided to help States prepare their national reports in accordance with Article 9 and to update the Secretariat's information on the biosphere reserve concerned. This report should enable the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of the MAB Programme to review how each biosphere reserve is fulfilling the criteria of Article 4 of the Statutory Framework and, in particular, the three functions: conservation, development and support. It should be noted that it is requested, in the last part of the form (Criteria and Progress Made), that an indication be given of how the biosphere reserve fulfils each of these criteria. -

Thisartide repartson interesting Danish Microlepidoptera collected in 1989, and o n reinarkable findings from previous years of specimens not definitive! y identified un til now. The classification and nomenelature follow Schnack (ed.): Ent. Meddr 52: 1-163. Four species are new to the Danish fauna: Glyphipterix schoenicolella Boyd, 1858 (Glyphipterigidae), found in great numbers in one ofthe very few Danish localities with growth of Schoenus nigricans. Eratophyes amasiella (Herrich-Schiiffer, 1854) (Oecophoridae) found at the most northern point of Denmark Hitherta it has strangely enough only been observed in Turkey, Holland and Nordrhein-Westfalen (Germany). Scrobipalpa ocellatella (Boyd, 1858) (Gelechiidae), two specimens came to light at Skallingen in the south-western part of Jutland. Bactra suedana Bengtsson, 1990, newly deseribed from Sweden and Denmark (Ent. scand. 20: 479-88). The North American tortricid Clepsis peritana (Clem.) has been found in three piaces in Denmark In a greenhouse there were man y larvae on Euphorbia pulcherrima. This is the first reported introduetion of this species to Europe. New Danish observations on the biology o f four species are reported: Elachista kilmunella Stt. (Elachistidae). The larva is yellow-white with light brown head. I t mines the lowest part of the leaf-stalk of Eriophorum vaginatum. The egg is often placed near the tip o f a ve ry smallleaf o r low down onalonger one. -

Compiled by Butterfly Conservation Wales using lists supplied by County Moth Recorders. Complete with records up to and including 2019 (2019 new records marked as such). Covers the 13 Welsh vice-counties: Monmouthshire (VC35), Glamorgan (VC41), Breconshire (VC42), Radnorshire (VC43), Carmarthenshire (VC44), Pembrokeshire (VC45), Cardiganshire (VC46), Montgomeryshire (VC47), Merionethshire (VC48), Caernarvonshire (VC49), Denbighshire (VC50), Flintshire (VC51) & Anglesey (VC52). U = Unsupported. These are moth records which are not supported by a full record and hence may be missing from the county datasets, despite being present on MBGBI maps. List order follows Agassiz, Beavan and Heckford (ABH) Checklist of the Lepidoptera of the British Isles (2013) and including recent changes to the list. A checklist of the Microlepidoptera species recorded in Slovenia is presented. Each entry is accompanied by complete references, and remarks where appropriate. Until now, the data on Microlepidopteran fauna of Slovenia have not been compiled, with the existing information scattered in literature, museums and private collections throughout Europe. The present checklist is based on records extracted from 290 literature sources published from 1763 (Scopoli) to present. In total, 1645 species from 56 families are listed. This work contains faunistic data on the occurrence of 677 butterfly and moth species found during 2000-2008 in north-eastern Poland (Podlasie Province). The species Monopis fenestratella (HEYDEN, 1863), Amphisbatis elsae SVENSSON, 1982, Coleophora ptarmicia WALSINGHAM, 1910 and Epermenia falciformis (HAWORTH, 1828) were found in Poland for the first time. Recent data are provided for five other species – Monochroa servella (ZELLER, 1839), Teleiodes aenigma SATTLER, 1983, Dichomeris limosella (SCHLÄGER, 1849), Aethes rutilana (HÜBNER, 1817) and Eana derivana (LA HARPE, 1858) – known in Poland only from historical data. The occurrence in Podlasie of 75 species is reported for the first time, and the occurrence of 6 other species is confirmed for this area after more than 50 years. This work also describes a new species, Monopis bisonella ŠUMPICH, sp. n. A number of species are very rare in Poland and occur only locally. -

EFSA/GMO/NL/2005/28 07/322-endelig maislinje 1507x59122 VKM Report 2008: 20 Uttalelse fra Faggruppe for genmodifiserte organismer i Vitenskapskomiteen for mattrygghet 9.05.08 Miljørisikovurdering av genmodifisert maishybrid 1507x59122 fra Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. og Mycogen Seeds (EFSA/GMO/NL/2005/28) SAMMENDRAG Miljørisikovurderingen av den genmodifiserte herbicid- og insektresistente maislinjen 1507x59122 fra Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. og Mycogen Seeds (EFSA/GMO/NL/2005/28) er utført av Faggruppe for genmodifiserte organismer under Vitenskapskomiteen for mattrygghet (VKM). VKM er blitt bedt av Direktoratet for naturforvalting (DN) om å vurdere miljørisiko ved en eventuell godkjenning av maislinje 1507x59122 for alle bruksområder, inkludert dyrking. Faggruppe for genmodifiserte organismer har tidligere vurdert helseaspekter knyttet til bruk av maislinjen som næringsmiddel og fôrvare (VKM 2007). Vurderingen av den genmodifiserte maisen er basert på dokumentasjon som er gjort tilgjengelig på EUs nettside GMO EFSAnet. I tillegg er det benyttet informasjon fra uavhengige vitenskapelige publikasjoner i vurderingen. Maishybriden 1507x59122 er vurdert i henhold til tiltenkt bruk (dyrking, fôr og mat), og i overensstemmelse med kravene i genteknologiloven med forskrifter, først og fremst forskrift om konsekvensutredning etter genteknologiloven. Videre er kravene i EUs utsettingsdirektiv 2001/18/EF (vedlegg 2, 3 og 3B) og veiledende notat 2002/623/EF, nedfelt i EFSAs retningslinjer for vurdering av genmodifiserte planter lagt til grunn for vurderingen. Vurderingen omfatter transformasjonsprosess og vektorkonstruksjon, karakterisering, uttrykk og nedarving av genkonstruksjonen, agronomiske egenskaper, potensialet for ikke intenderte effekter på fitness, genoverføring og mulige effekter på ikke-målorganismer, abiotisk miljø og dyrkingspraksis. F1-hybriden 1507x59122 er dannet ved konvensjonell kryssing av foreldrelinjene 1507 og 59122. -
