21.2 NEW TOWN FOOTPRINT

Masterplan SECTION 21 The Jabiru Masterplan footprint shows the location, scale and purpose of Jabiru’s rehabilitated and remediated infrastructure along with an insight into the proposed developments for the town. These projects, spread across three precincts, include new tourism facilities, luxury accommodation, a new entry road into town, safe swimming areas in Jabiru Lake, recreation space and a new town centre.

21.3 JABIRU KABOLKMAKMEN LIMITED

Jabiru Kabolkmakmen represents a collaborative and innovative approach between the Northern Territory Government and Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation to provide services that progress the repurposing of Jabiru from a mining town to an Indigenous led tourism and government service centre for Kakadu National Park and the West Arnhem region. The land in Jabiru is leased by the Commonwealth Director of National Parks (DNP) to the Jabiru Town Development Authority (JTDA), a Northern Territory Government statutory authority. The head-lease will expire on 30 June 2021. New arrangements are being negotiated for a section 19A township lease whereby the freehold interest of the DNP will be replaced with a grant to an Aboriginal Land Trust under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. While any offers of sub-leases cannot be guaranteed prior to the commencement of the 19A lease, Jabiru Kabolkmakmen is working
