However, the growth of electric moped scooter sharing services raises the question of how environmentally friendly this business model is, considering the entire lifecycle. Due to the dynamic market and insufficient availability of public data on the business processes of sharing services only a few studies on the impact of shared electric mopeds are available. Especially there is a lack of research on the impacts of key operational logistic parameters of the sharing system. This paper aims to fill this gap by conducting a life cycle assessment using the example of an electric moped scooter manufactured and used in sharing services in Germany, based on different operating scenarios. The results show that e-moped sharing has a similar environmental impact on global warming potential, in terms of passenger kilometers, as public transport, especially if long product lifetimes as well as efficient operation logistics are realized.

    Improving SafetyImproving and forScooter Moped Motorcycle, Riders Improving Safety for Motorcycle, Scooter and Moped Riders The global fleet of powered two-wheelers (PTWs) is constantly increasing. In many countries, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds play a significant role in mobility, particularly in many of the world’s large cities. As such, PTWs are becoming an important component of the transport system. However, they represent an important challenge for road safety. PTW riders are at far more risk than car drivers per kilometre ridden in terms of fatalities and severe injuries entailing long-term disability. Moreover, they have not benefited from safety improvements at the same pace as car occupants over recent decades. Addressing the issue of PTW safety is thus an essential contribution to the success of the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety, which aims at halving the expected number of road deaths worldwide by 2020. This report reviews recent trends in powered two-wheeler crashes, the factors contributing to these crashes and their severity. It describes a set of countermeasures targeting user behaviours, the use of protective equipment, the vehicles and the infrastructure. Finally, it discusses motorcycle safety strategies in the context of a safe system.     MODERN ENDURO ary Enman, a 15-year-old hare scrambles racer from Bangor, Pa., admits that he wasn’t sure what to expect when he started enduro racing. “For the most part, I didn’t have any idea what I was doing when I lined up for my first enduro,” says Gary, who decided to try the national enduros when he was just 13 years old. “My younger brother, Neil, and I were looking for something different. Our dad used to ride traditional time-keeping enduros, so we decided to give enduros a try. It wasn’t that hard to transition into.” The Enman brothers say their parents are their pit crew, but their dad hopes to ride with them next year. On occasion, the boys get to ride on the same row, and that adds to the camaraderie-building experience. “The enduros have a great community vibe,” Neil says. “It’s like being part of a huge family. To that end, the research exploits the data from a web-based survey conducted in Spain, one of the countries with the largest implementation around the world in terms of the shared e-mopeds fleet. Kruskal–Wallis tests were conducted to identify the segment of the urban population that is more likely adopted moped sharing, and additional statistical mean differences in specific variables concerning moped sharing were carried out.     What role does a physio play in a prestigious international motocross event? Jessica Smith reveals all here… Physiotherapist, Jessica Smith from our Rosebud clinic, recently returned from France where she undertook the role of Physiotherapist for the Australian Enduro Motocross Team. Here, she gives us some insight into the role that a Physiotherapist plays in an intensive event like motocross. I recently had the absolute privilege of being the physiotherapist for the Australian Enduro Motocross Team who competed at the 2017 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), held in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France from 28 August to 2 September. Ten riders made up three Trophy Teams, who competed against 32 rival nations, representing Australia at the highest level in Enduro and Off-Road racing. I can not thank Jon, Simon and the whole AORC/MA team for giving me this opportunity, of which I am still absolutely buzzing from. Firstly a huge congratulations to the now 5x world champion Aussie Women’s team finishing 1st. The Aussie senior male team finished second, putting in huge efforts throughout the week. I have such admiration for the riders and what they put their bodies through over the six day event. My role during the week was assisting the 10 riders in getting their bodies ready for the six day event, including advice and education regarding stretches, nuero-muscular enhancing exercises and providing manual therapy techniques most commonly to their thoracic spine and hips. Once the event begun I was also assisting the riders with basic first aid and managing any injuries sustained during the day.
