Instructor: Mr. Daniel Pareja Speech Carson has been a stand our student among his peers because of his love for cars. He shares his passion with his peers. Currently Carson is interning for an internationally known custom body shop and is dedicated to the work he does there. Mr. Pareja believes that one day he will be watching Carson on a reality TV show and he will be telling his then students about how Carson got his start right here at Eden Area ROP. He is a true craftsman of the art.

Dimitri has become a role model in class by taking leader roles and through assisting with supervising groups and delegating clean up duties to his peers. Dimitri is a two-time winner at the Skills USA Regionals Competition for sculptures.

She always takes the initiative to keep team members on track and encourages them to stay focused. Joseph enjoys acquiring new skills through studying and practice. He shows deep understanding of the subjects taught in class. He has always had a positive attitude in class and has demonstrated a willingness to help his peers.

She has demonstrated leadership, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm in and out of the classroom. She has helped facilitate marketing projects with CVUSD, Operations Christmas Child with Three Crosses, and the Wellness Centers Suicide Awareness concert. Lauren’s enthusiasm is infectious. She is kind hearted with a “get it done” attitude.

She has shown great leadership qualities and has developed an incredibly professional portfolio which she used to mentor first year students. Makaela is driven and dedicated to a career in Education. She produces creative assignments that translate to various age groups. She has been accepted at San Jose State University and will do extremely well in her future endeavors.

Instructor: Mr. Bill Deslaurier Speech Citlally has the ability to grasp and execute critical construction concepts, whose behavior has set the example for others to follow. Citlaly has integrity, professionalism, leadership, character, work ethic and a positive demeanor. She has routinely demonstrated the ability to comprehend, plan, organize and execute complicated construction tasks, attributes not common in today’s work force. Daryn impressed the NFTE Advisory Board and President with his film script project. He is a finalist in the Hayward High School Business Plan competition and is advancing to the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship Regional Finals where he will compete for an opportunity to represent Eden Area ROP/Hayward High School at the NFTE National Championships in New York City.

Instructor: Ms. Zennaita Bradford Davis Sok is a well rounded student, who is highly motivated and dedicated to his education and future. He would put in longer hours than the average student and memorized all his pitches for his projects. He desires to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Davis feels the skills he learned in EAROP Entrepreneurship class are “essential in economics and life overall, and will be his guiding force in evaluating costs, structuring presentations, and wholehearted dedication towards and during his future career as an Astronautical Engineer.” Student of the Year 2019-20 CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENT Elias Martinez Sports Medicine – Mt. Eden High School
Instructor: Mr. Mikel Jackson Elias was chosen because of his passion for education and his dedication to seeking advancement in the medical field. He is very mature, polite and outspoken. Elias asked thoughtful question and is always helpful to others. He is an active member of the inaugural Sports Medicine Club and has helped provide first aid services for athletes. He is an integral part of the teams routine care. Elias has done this while using his health care preparation from both Sports Medicine and his ROP First Responders program. She wants to pursue an education in Industrial Engineering and develop her own cosmetic line with the knowledge she has obtained from the program.

She received a Gold Medal award in the Skills USA competition in the “Forensic Science Crime Scene Investigation” field.

During the Shelter in Place, Julie continues to work with her site where she helps students navigate through any technical challenges they may be facing. His behavior in class sets the example for others to follow. Keawe has the ability to execute multiple construction related projects, always with a smile and a “can do” attitude. He shows commitment to family and serves as an EAROP Ambassador, which illustrates his unselfish commitment to serve and help others.

Instructor: Mr. Mikel Jackson Lizbeth has been a pleasure to teacher and a good challenge to teach. She speaks out in class with college level comments or questions that shows that she understands the curriculum, internalizes it and then follows it to the next logical step of application. Lizbeth is the Secretary of the Sports Medicine Club. She is passionate about community service events, fundraising opportunities and sharing her love of Sports Medicine with other students.

Samuel attended a CAL Fire informational meeting and earned his BLS/CPR/First Aid for Infants, Children and Adults for Healthcare providers. Instructor: Mr. Rick Charles Shandell comes to class everyday with an eagerness to learn and a desire to apply her knowledge to real world opportunities. Her favorite quote is “Change your thoughts and you change your world”. She models this quote daily by keeping faith that something good can come out of every situation. Shandell is advancing to the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship Regional Finals, where she will compete to represent the Eden Area ROP at the NFTE National Championships in NYC.

Instructor: Ms. Zennaita Bradford Shawn is an exceptional leader and shares his leadership qualities naturally with all his colleagues as well as teachers. He is involved in many extra-curricular activities and has dedicated his time volunteering to help others. Recently, he has been working on a business/social media app that is directed towards the pre-teen to teen scene. His plan is to attend Cogswell Polytechnical College and complete his B.S. in Computer Science.

During her first year, she successfully completed her internship at The Women’s Center at St. Rose. Her supervisor described Aileen as an outstanding intern who was always professional. Aileen was hired for a position at her second internship in February because of her work ethics and professionalism. She competed in Skills USA for Medical Assisting where she advanced to the state competition.

Early on in the year, Idalia showed little interest in the class. However, she recovered fast and pushed herself to be better. Idalia eagerly helps in class as needed, volunteered to help others and challenged herself daily. Ms. Peters has had the privilege of watching Idalia become more driven and excited about her future.

She was sent to a Chiropractic office for internship, and each week she came to class more and more excited for her future. She was given excellent reviews from her internship performance. Kaitlin would challenge herself and became more and more driven.

Instructor: Ms. Laura Jagroop Mac has been a star student this year and has helped run the Business Academy Student Store with product merchandising and purchasing. Also, he has organized student bonding events that were central in increasing sophomore engagement. Mac’s warm and caring personality, innovative spirit and initiative way of knowing how to inspire and encourage his classmates is why he was chosen as this year’s student of the year.

Instructor: Mr. Daniel Pareja Speech Alberto set a goal for himself to be part of the Skills USA Competition. With this decision made, he dedicated himself to the course In his junior year, he received 1st place in California and was given a $39,000 full ride scholarship to attend the Universal Technical Institute after he graduates. He returned in his senior year as a leader in the class and he was looked up to by his classmates. He was always humble and very thankful for his achievements.

He is very responsible and takes a leadership role in class. Daniel has helped with supervision and delegates work to his peers. He is active, outgoing, and has a great sense of humor. His ability to acquire new skills and improve through practice truly demonstrates a growth mindset. Daniel competed in Skills USA and received a Gold Medal. He is trustworthy, reliable, good humored student and a supportive friend to his classmates. Daniel will be attending UTI once he graduates.

Instructor: Ms. Lameisha Sherri Donovan has demonstrated amazing potential from day one. He is thoughtful, fun-loving and has leadership qualities that make others notice him. He participated in the sophomore tours and impressed the class with his description of what they do in Graphics. His design skills improve daily and he created a very impressive children’s book with his group. He has done exceptionally well!

Instructor: Mr. Michael O’Connell Speech Giselle has become a leader in the class. She has a high level of communication and needs very little supervision to get her assignments completed. Giselle is currently receiving “A” grades in almost all her classes and has set short and long term goals to meet. Mr. O’Connell states, “Within my 13 years of law enforcement as a Deputy, Officer, and Detective, I have rarely seen someone who has this much charisma, professionalism, and passion in a person her age”.

Ivan has successfully led two different teams in the Eden Area ROP Desktop upgrade. Mr. Kent states that, “Perhaps the best reason Ivan is student of the year is that he has a good relationship with everyone in the class. He has helped everyone, worked well with everyone, and made friends with everyone in the class.”

Instructor: Mr. David Espinoza Jocelin is one of the instructor’s best students. She shows up everyday, on time and does her work. Jocelin is not scared of anything. In fact, she did more work in the shop then the boys did. Jocelin had a list of things she wanted to learn about cars and with the Instructor’s help was able to check off most of what was on it. She is dedicated and focused.

She has shared that she wants a career in the dental field and the instructor is confident that Laeloni will be very successful.
