Hayward Full-Service Community Schools Program Project Narrative Introduction – Absolute and Competitive Preference Priorities Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) is applying for funding as the lead agency for the Hayward Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) Program on behalf of our Hayward Full-Ser- vice Community Schools Consortium. Our application meets the Absolute Priority and three of the Competitive Preference Priorities for this grant competition as follows. ABSOLUTE PRIORITY. The proposed project will serve 12 full-service community schools in HUSD (10 elementary, one middle, and one high school), all classified as Title 1 schools. The schools collectively serve 7,719 students, 73% of whom are economically disadvantaged (rang- ing from 56% to 90%, depending on the school (see Table 1). COMPETITIVE PREFERENCE PRIORITY 2 – BROADLY REPRESENTATIVE CONSORTIUM. The Hayward Full-Service Community Schools Collaborative is a broad-based consortium of part- ners, including key public, private, and higher education stakeholders in the success of Hayward children and families. Our Collaborative incorporates and enlarges the existing Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) Consortium, which implemented a cradle-to-college-and-career pipeline of services targeting one high-poverty neighborhood in Hayward (the Jackson Triangle) from 2012 to 2016 and expanded to a include a second neighborhood (South Hayward) beginning in 2018. Five of the 12 schools to be served by the proposed Hayward FSCS program have been served by the Hayward Promise Neighborhoods

  • Receive an Update on the Affordable Student Transit Pass Pilot Program
Memorandum 8.2 DATE: September 15, 2016 SUBJECT: Affordable Student Transit Pass Pilot Program Update RECOMMENDATION: Receive an update on the Affordable Student Transit Pass Pilot Program. Summary The 2014 Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) includes implementation of an affordable student transit pass pilot program in Alameda County. Its purpose is to test and evaluate different pilot program designs of an affordable transit pass program over a three-year horizon to identify successful model programs that could be expanded and sustained with additional funding sources after the pilot program period. In May 2016, the Commission approved the school sites for Year One of the program (2016-2017 school year), general program parameters for each site, and the shortlist of 36 schools which is the potential pool for additional school sites in year 2 of the pilot program if feasible and if funding is available. During summer 2016, the program parameters were refined in close coordination with each school site to support an effective pilot approach to meet the program goals, and staff entered into agreements and contracts with the applicable transit agencies and school districts. Pilot programs were launched at the school sites in Alameda County that are receiving transit passes. Background The Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) has undertaken the development, implementation, and evaluation of an Affordable Student Transit Pass Program (Affordable STPP) which it is piloting in middle schools and high schools in the four Alameda County planning areas starting this 2016-2017 school year. This pilot program provides a vital opportunity to assess student transportation needs in the county and develop an approach to meet those needs through implementation of a pass program.

  • Tau Beta Pi CA-Alpha the Engineering Honor Society University of California, Berkeley Annual Chapter Report : Fall 2011-Spring 2012 Dear Reader
Tau Beta Pi CA-Alpha The Engineering Honor Society University of California, Berkeley Annual Chapter Report : Fall 2011-Spring 2012 Dear reader, It is with great pride that I present to you this compilation of CA-A’s projects for the 2011-2012 school year. Through the combined efforts of our dedicated officer corps and membership, our impressive class of new initiates, and our faithful alumni, we were able to accomplish truly spectacular things this past year. We held a record-breaking 46 fun/social events and 31 company infosessions, most of which were open to other engineering students, along with numerous professional development events and service activities. But what truly exemplifies the success of the chapter over the past year is the fruitful cultivation of our new, amazing projects. Taking the call of noblesse oblige to heart, the theme of our past year was outreach, both to the College of Engineering and to the surrounding Bay area. CA-A made it our mission to provide opportunities for engineering students and Bay area community members. In the Fall, CA-A unveiled for the first time its College Bound event, an all-day event with the goal of promoting post-secondary STEM education to underrepresented groups.
